About the role
Our employee-owned and multi-disciplined team of engineering and design professionals has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Mining Mechanical team as a Graduate Design Engineer!
As a member of our team, you will work alongside mechanical engineers and designers to develop plans, design specifications, and detailed drawings for various process piping and industrial ventilation systems. You will also assist with the creation of process flow diagrams and equipment arrangement and layouts. On occasion, you will assist with construction administration responsibilities including interpreting plans, observing construction progress, and maintaining reports to ensure installation conforms with plans and specifications.
In addition to working alongside mechanical engineering professionals, you will work within a multi-disciplined environment and collaborate with structural, electrical, and civil engineering professionals to design complex plant/building systems and site operations for heavy industrial sectors, including mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals.
Location and Work Arrangement
This position could be based out of Duluth, MN or Bloomington, MN; however, candidates must reside within regular commuting distance from one of the two locations. TKDA offers flexible hybrid work arrangements, with employees typically working three days in the office and two days remotely, in alignment with business needs. Travel (up to 15%) to other TKDA offices and project or client locations will be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
- Professional with two to five years of progressive experience designing various commercial and/or industrial mechanical systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to write specifications and reports and participate in project team meeting discussions.
Advantageous Qualifications
- Previous experience with layout of ductwork and piping systems in a 3D environment.
- Previous experience with layout of industrial systems such as process piping and ductwork.
- Previous experience with mechanical design.
- Familiarity with process flow diagrams, process piping diagrams, and/or piping & instrumentation diagrams.
- Experience with Plant 3D and SolidWorks
