About the role
If you are looking for an opportunity to work alongside a team of highly collaborative mechanical engineering professionals where you can fully utilize and enhance your mechanical engineering design skills, then we have an exciting and rewarding opportunity available for you to join our team as a Mechanical Designer!
As a member of our team, you will join a multi-disciplined group of engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural) professionals to deliver design services for complex plant/building systems and site operations for heavy industrial sectors, including mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals. In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist with the drafting & design of mechanical system projects by preparing drawings through the utilization of design production software. In this position, you will also be responsible for performing basic mechanical calculations and completing redline revisions.
Note | Although this position is recognized as a Designer, it is commonly referred to as an Engineering Specialist internally at TKDA.
Location and Work Arrangement
This position could be based out of Duluth, MN or Bloomington, MN; however, candidates must reside within regular commuting distance from one of the two locations. TKDA offers flexible hybrid work arrangements, with employees typically working three days in the office and two days remotely, in alignment with business needs. Travel (less than 10%) to other TKDA offices, project or client locations, and may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in architectural technology, engineering technology, mechanical / building system design, CAD technology, or related field.
- Four or more years of progressive experience designing industrial mechanical systems combined with a high proficiency of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Advantageous Qualifications
- Previous experience with layout of ductwork and piping systems in a 3D environment.
- Previous experience with layout of industrial systems such as process piping and ductwork.
- Previous experience with mechanical design.
- Familiarity with process flow diagrams, process piping diagrams, and/or piping & instrumentation diagrams.
- Experience with Plant 3D and SolidWorks
