The Software Engineer, will join an experienced team working on efforts to modernize an existing data tracking and metrics system. The User Experience (UX) developer should be able to focus on developing highly usable end user interfaces, applying UI best practices, and UX principles.
Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required. (e.g. Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency appropriate polygraph).
Capabilities
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Linux, CSS, JavaScript, and HTML to support UI design, troubleshoot design-related issues, and collaborate with development teams.
- Work closely with users (analysts) to research, develop, and document user profiles and user performance requirements.
- Conduct task analysis and workflow mapping and develop and test user scenarios.
- Develop UI design specifications and support documentation (e.g., wireframes, mockups, interaction behaviors, and design guidelines), as needed to support development efforts.
- Collaborate with product designers and process engineers to inform application design and ensure user-centered solutions align with workflows and requirements.
- Conduct accessibility and 508 compliance testing to ensure user interfaces meet regulatory and usability standards.
- Collect and analyze user feedback through surveys and behavioral data to guide design improvements and UX decisions.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with small teams and larger cross-functional groups.
- Create interactive prototypes to validate design concepts and communicate interactions to stakeholders and development teams.
Required Qualifications
- TS/SCI with agency appropriate poly
- Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Four (4) additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
- Five (5) years of experience with a strong background in user-centered design, UI best practices, usability testing, and the software development lifecycle (analysis, design, implementation, and deployment).
