WHOOP is seeking a Senior NPI Quality Engineer, (Hardware) to lead Product Quality for a portfolio of hardware development programs from concept through launch. As a technical leader within the Product Quality organization, you will partner closely with Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Reliability, Operations, and global manufacturing partners to ensure products are designed, validated, and launched with exceptional quality. You will own quality planning, risk management, launch readiness, and product quality execution across multiple complex hardware programs while helping establish the standards and operating mechanisms that define Product Quality at WHOOP.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own Product Quality for multiple hardware development programs, ensuring products progress through development with robust quality planning, risk management, validation, and manufacturing readiness.
Partner with Product Management and Systems Engineering in transforming ambiguous and broad Voice of Customer requirements into quantifiable specifications via Product and Engineering Requirement Documentation.
Partner with Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Field Quality, Reliability, Test Engineering, Operations, and manufacturing partners to design quality in the product by identifying failure modes and identify quality risks early in the product development process and drive timely resolution throughout product development.
Lead quality planning activities including DFMEA, CTQ definition, reliability planning, validation and verification strategy, process capability, measurement system analysis, and launch readiness reviews.
Partner with Supplier Quality to drive quality excellence across the supplier network and contract manufacturers via engineering drawings and design files review, robust quality control plan and process capability improvement
Drive structured problem solving using data-driven methodologies and statistical engineering to investigate product and manufacturing risks, implement corrective actions, and continuously improve product quality across development programs.
Represent Product Quality in cross-functional program reviews, communicating quality status, launch readiness, key risks, and mitigation plans to engineering and operations leadership.
Contribute to the evolution of WHOOP's Product Quality systems, standards, metrics, and operating mechanisms while mentoring peers and helping raise the technical bar across the Product Quality organization.
Willingness and able to travel up to 15% internationally to partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
7+ years of experience in Product Quality, NPI Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Product Engineering, or related roles supporting consumer electronics, wearables, medical devices, or similarly complex hardware.
Experience leading quality for complex hardware products through development, validation, manufacturing readiness, and product launch.
Strong knowledge of quality methodologies including DFMEA, PFMEA, CTQ, DOE, SPC, MSA, GR&R, root cause analysis, CAPA/8D, and statistical quality methods.
Experience working with global suppliers and contract manufacturing partners in high-volume manufacturing environments.
Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence technical decisions through objective data and structured problem solving.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment while managing multiple programs and competing priorities.
Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.
This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $195,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.
In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package..
These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
