About the role
The Configuration Manager is responsible for establishing and operating effective configuration and change management across the engineering lifecycle. Working within the Technical Process Excellence team, the role ensures that engineering work products, baselines, releases and changes are controlled, traceable and compliant with Wayve's engineering processes and automotive development standards.
Beyond core configuration management, the role will support requirements management and wider engineering process activities, making it well suited to someone with broad experience of automotive development processes and Automotive SPICE.
Key Responsibilities
Configuration Management: Define, implement and continuously improve configuration management processes covering configuration identification, baselining, change control, status accounting and configuration audits.
Engineering Lifecycle: Establish and maintain configuration structures and baselines across requirements, architecture, software, verification evidence and releases, ensuring consistency and end-to-end traceability.
Requirements Management: Support requirements management practices, including requirements structure, attributes, traceability, baselining, change management and requirements tooling.
Process & Compliance: Support engineering teams in applying Automotive SPICE processes, identifying process gaps and preparing engineering evidence for internal, customer and external assessments.
Tools & Improvement: Develop and improve workflows, tooling, automation, metrics and guidance across configuration and requirements management, working closely with engineering teams and process owners.
Experience
Essential
Experience in configuration management within automotive, aerospace or another complex software/systems engineering environment.
Practical knowledge of configuration identification, baselines, change control, status accounting and configuration audits.
Experience working across software, systems engineering and requirements management lifecycles.
Familiarity with modern engineering toolchains such as Git/GitHub, Jama Connect, Jira or equivalent.
Strong communication skills and the ability to establish effective processes across multiple engineering teams.
Desirable
Good working knowledge of Automotive SPICE, particularly SUP.8, SUP.9 and the requirements engineering processes.
Experience with requirements management and traceability in Jama Connect or a comparable requirements management tool.
Knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 21434 or other automotive engineering standards.
intacs™ Automotive SPICE Process Expert or Assessor qualification.
Experience improving or automating engineering lifecycle, configuration or compliance workflows.
