About the role
A little bit about our team
Sureel AI is building the standards and infrastructure for AI rights, licensing, attribution, protection, and intelligence, starting in music and expanding across media.
We are building the infrastructure that enables creators and rights holders to control how their work is used by AI, protect their rights, understand its use and value, and participate in new AI licensing models. We also provide AI companies and digital platforms with the systems they need to access rights, permissions, attribution, guardrails, reporting, and licensing infrastructure programmatically.
Acquired by Warner Music Group, Sureel operates as an independent, federated company, combining startup speed with the reach of a global music company.
Our story connects us to the rights holders whose works we protect, the AI companies and digital service providers (DSPs) who integrate our systems, and the creators whose futures depend on getting this right. As our first dedicated marketing hire, you will shape how the industry understands the emerging AI rights, licensing, and attribution infrastructure category, and why Sureel should become a foundational part of it.
Your role
Reporting to Co-President Aileen Crowley, you will be the marketing counterpart to our product, commercial, and client functions, owning category positioning, product marketing, thought leadership, demand generation, and brand.
As our first dedicated marketing hire, you will own Sureel's voice, strategy, and execution across channels. The focus is on reaching the right audiences rather than maximizing reach, with an emphasis on rights holders, DSPs, AI companies, and other organizations that matter to Sureel's growth.
You will develop distinct narratives for each side of the ecosystem while maintaining one coherent Sureel brand and category. You'll turn Sureel's product architecture, industry frameworks, research, and standards work into clear, compelling stories that help shape how the industry understands AI rights and licensing.
A core part of the role will be category creation: establishing the language, concepts, narratives, and proof points through which the industry understands AI rights and licensing, and positioning Sureel within that category.
You will also help determine where Sureel should have a public presence, focusing on the channels, events, communities, and forums where our audiences actually engage. You'll be comfortable developing a marketing strategy for senior leadership and creating the content and materials needed to bring that strategy to life.
What you'll do:
-
Lead Sureel's marketing function end-to-end, including category strategy, positioning, messaging, product marketing, demand generation, thought leadership, brand, and execution.
-
Own product marketing across the Sureel stack, translating technical capabilities into clear value propositions, use cases, differentiation, and messaging for each customer segment.
-
Create sales and executive materials, including pitches, case studies, demos, and other collateral.
-
Build targeted demand among the organizations that matter most to Sureel, prioritizing qualified rights holders, AI companies, platforms, and ecosystem partners over broad reach.
-
Build the right communication channels and programs to educate, nurture, and activate key audiences, including targeted email where appropriate.
-
Lead thought leadership across Sureel and the broader AI rights and licensing landscape, turning complex technical and economic concepts into narratives that influence industry decision-makers.
-
Develop Sureel's brand and market positioning, creating a clear and consistent identity across audiences and channels.
-
Own event and industry presence, identifying the conferences, forums, working groups, and communities where participation can advance adoption, partnerships, or awareness.
-
Turn pilots, integrations, partner outcomes, research, and product data into proof points and case studies that demonstrate Sureel's value.
-
Track how the market is being framed, including how AI companies, rights holders, regulators, standards bodies, competitors, and media are talking about AI rights and licensing, and use those insights to refine Sureel's positioning.
-
Support leadership on announcements, conferences, and PR, working with Warner Music Group brand and communications teams where appropriate.
-
Manage agency, influencer, and creative partners, ensuring work is aligned with Sureel's brand and budget.
-
Create repeatable marketing systems, including templates, timelines, budgets, and ways to understand what is working.
-
Oversee compelling demo videos and other creative work that clearly communicate Sureel's products and value to clients and partners.
-
Handle confidential and proprietary information with discretion and integrity.

-
You are a strong storyteller who can make complicated technical concepts clear, relevant, and engaging.
-
You build trust quickly, make good judgment calls around voice and messaging, and know when to escalate.
-
You communicate clearly in writing and in person and can stay calm in a fast-moving environment.
