A Sr. Equipment Operator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works. The candidate in this position will work in the South Asphalt Sector. The South Asphalt Sector performs temporary and permanent asphalt repairs. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge in looping, saw cutting, leading during crew leaders absence, training new hires, as well as a solid background of heavy equipment operation on frequently used construction equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Three (3) years of experience in operation of motorized equipment or construction equipment
- Possession of a Class A CDL
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year of asphalt maintenance experience
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
The Senior Equipment Operator job responsibilities include:
- Operate on-road equipment including operating a dump truck and/ or tractor trailer
- Operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, skid steer, excavator, roller and other various heavy equipment
- Asphalt repair and maintenance
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures
- Knowledge and use of data entry systems such as VueWorks and/or work order management systems
- Capability to step into a leadership role when needed, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely
- Train new crew members and monitor performance

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, and workspace restrictions.
Physical Demands
Heavy Work — Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. working in extreme heat and cold and inclement weather.
