In this role, you will balance rigorous personnel management with precise asset management to ensure our trucks are running safely, efficiently, and effectively.
You won't be managing from a desk. This role requires significant in-truck time and travel to maintain a constant pulse on the organization. You will ride alongside our drivers, review takeover logs, and drive continuous improvement on pilot routes hauling real customer freight while stress-testing our cutting-edge autonomous software.
This position is located in New Stanton, PA.
Responsibilities:
- Driver Operations: Oversee daily scheduling, dispatching, and management of the autonomous test driver and safety operator fleet.
- Performance & Coaching: Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and continuous coaching sessions with operators.
- In-Truck Spot Checks: Frequently ride along on pilot routes to observe driver protocol, safety compliance, and system interaction firsthand.
- Takeover Log Review: Thoroughly analyze vehicle takeover logs alongside operators to identify areas for driver improvement and software feedback.
- Daily Testing Operations: Manage the daily execution of engineering test plans and commercial pilot operations on live freight routes.
- Asset Management: Oversee the deployment, maintenance scheduling, and utilization of our autonomous truck fleet and associated hardware assets.
- Route Optimization: Monitor and drive continuous improvement on pilot routes, ensuring customer freight is delivered reliably while maximizing valuable autonomous testing miles.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in operations management, fleet management, logistics, or a related field (experience in autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or advanced R&D environments is a massive plus).
- Trucking Fleet Experience: Hands-on background managing, dispatching, or maintaining commercial motor vehicle (CMV) fleets, with a strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
- People Leadership: Proven track record of managing frontline personnel (drivers, technicians, or operators) with a focus on safety, accountability, and professional development.
- Technical Prowess: Strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly understand complex software/hardware systems, read data logs, and interface intelligently with engineering teams.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; capable of delivering clear directives to drivers and presenting operational metrics to leadership.
- Analytical Mindset: Data-driven approach to solving operational problems and optimizing fleet efficiency.
- Flexibility & Travel: Willingness to travel extensively and spend considerable time in the cab of a Class 8 truck to maintain a pulse on field operations.
