Security Guard

Position Summary

The Security Guard is responsible for protecting company property, employees, and visitors while maintaining a safe and secure workplace. This position monitors facility access, conducts routine patrols, operates security systems, and responds to incidents in accordance with company policies and established procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, attention to detail, and a professional approach to enforcing security requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of company buildings, grounds, and parking areas to identify security concerns, safety hazards, and suspicious activity.

• Monitor and control the entry and departure of employees, visitors, contractors, and vehicles in accordance with company access procedures.

• Verify identification and visitor authorization, maintain access records, and ensure visitors follow sign-in and escort requirements.

• Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems; investigate unusual activity and promptly report security concerns.

• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, coordinating with management, emergency responders, or law enforcement as appropriate.

• Address unauthorized access, trespassing, and policy violations professionally, using de-escalation techniques and following company procedures, training, and applicable laws.

• Prepare accurate, detailed reports documenting daily activities, observations, incidents, and actions taken.

• Perform routine checks of security systems and emergency equipment, reporting malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.

• Operate screening equipment, including metal detectors or X-ray machines, when assigned and properly trained.

• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive company information, security records, and incident details.

Required Qualifications

• A valid California Guard Card.

• At least one year of work experience.

• Strong understanding of security procedures, access control, and emergency response practices.

• Experience operating security systems and familiarity with emergency equipment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to prepare clear, accurate written reports.

• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees, visitors, and management.

• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to remain calm and respond appropriately under pressure.

• Strong observation skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while consistently following established procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Security Guard, Security Officer, or in a similar position.

• Prior law enforcement or military experience.

Pay Range$28—$28 USD

ITAR/EAR Compliance: Due to the nature of the work performed at Rocket EMS, this position may require access to export-controlled technical data or technology. The successful candidate must be eligible to access such information under applicable U.S. export-control laws or be eligible for any required government authorization.
