About the role
About Revel
At Revel, we are revolutionizing the way the world’s most critical hardware is controlled—across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our next-generation software stack combines an intuitive command/control interface, a specialized programming language tailored for hardware control, and a high-performance runtime environment. We empower engineers to build, test, and deploy critical systems rapidly, reliably, and safely.
The Internship
As a Forward Deployed Engineering Intern at Revel, you’ll work at the intersection of software and hardware, helping bring Revel’s technology into the real-world systems our customers build.
You’ll work closely with our Forward Deployed Engineering and Software teams to write code, build tools and dashboards, troubleshoot hardware integrations, and help deploy Revel alongside customer engineering teams. You’ll get hands-on exposure to aerospace, automotive, energy, and advanced manufacturing environments and see how software is used to control and operate complex physical systems.
This is a highly technical, hands-on internship. You’ll have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of projects, work directly with experienced engineers, and see your work used in real-world hardware environments.
What You'll Do
Write production-quality code in C, C++, Python, or Rust
Build custom tools and dashboards to help engineers interact with and monitor hardware
Support the integration of Revel with test stands, sensors, actuators, and existing customer infrastructure
Work alongside customer and internal engineering teams to troubleshoot and solve technical problems
Help develop and test software that interfaces directly with physical hardware
Learn how software, firmware, and hardware systems work together end-to-end
Translate learnings from customer deployments into product feedback for our software and product teams
Collaborate with experienced Forward Deployed and Software Engineers on real customer projects
Occasionally travel to customer sites with the team
What We're Looking For
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
Rising Junior or Senior graduating in 2027 or 2028
Strong programming fundamentals and experience with at least one of C, C++, or Python
Interest in systems engineering and understanding how software interacts with hardware
Excited to work hands-on with real hardware and solve problems in the field
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Curious, self-directed, and excited to learn from experienced engineers
US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirement)
Bonus Points
Experience with embedded systems, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or other hardware-focused projects
Experience with DAQ systems, PLCs, control systems, or industrial automation
Familiarity with NI software, TwinCAT, or CodeSys
Experience working with sensors, actuators, test equipment, or other physical hardware
Personal, academic, or previous internship projects involving software + hardware
Experience at a startup or other fast-moving engineering environment
Passion for aerospace, advanced manufacturing, robotics, or other technically challenging industries
