Team Lead, Software Engineering

Remarcable is the intelligent procurement and material operations platform transforming how trade contractors (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and suppliers work together. Processing over $1B in monthly purchase volume, our platform unifies procurement, inventory, prefabrication, tool management, and delivery. We connect live field operations, back offices, and suppliers through real time data sync, visual catalogs, side by side distributor pricing, AI discrepancy detection, and 180+ supplier and ERP integrations.

We are seeking a Team Lead, Software Engineering to guide a focused, high-performing agile pod of software developers. This role features a split between hands-on engineering and technical management. You will serve as a key technical contributor to our core Django-based platform while driving daily agile operations, pragmatic unblocking, and translating product roadmaps into structured technical requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Technical & Team Leadership (50%): Lead sprint ceremonies, including planning, grooming, and daily standups for your engineering pod to ensure smooth execution and momentum.

• Hands-On Engineering (50%): Write, review, and maintain clean, performant, and secure production code across our Python/Django backend, Angular and React frontend, and PostgreSQL databases.

• Mentorship & Quality Standards: Guide developers through constructive code reviews, technical design sessions, and continuous mentorship while upholding security and architectural standards.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers to align technical specs, architecture, and sprint deliverables with the overall product roadmap.

• System Health & Integrations: Oversee system architecture, database performance, complex ORM query optimization, and the resilience of our 3rd-party ERP integration pipelines (REST APIs, webhooks, OCR extraction).

Your first 90 days

• Days 1–30: System familiarization, deep dive into core Django architecture, and delivering clean backend code.

• Days 31–60: Establish yourself as a reliable technical contributor and coordinate with product managers on backlog details.

• By Day 90: Transition fully into pod leadership, taking ownership of sprint cycles, daily standups, and code reviews.

What You Bring

• Experience: 6+ years of software engineering experience in a fast-paced B2B SaaS or product startup environment.

• Leadership Potential: High leadership aptitude with a desire to step into a leading role. You enjoy unblocking team members, refining developer workflows, mentoring peers, and building a high-trust culture, even if you haven't held a formal "Team Lead" title before.

• Technical Mastery: Extensive production experience with Python, Django, REST APIs, and relational databases like PostgreSQL.

• Frontend Knowledge: Hands-on experience or solid working knowledge of modern frontend frameworks (preferably Angular, React, or Vue) to effectively lead full-stack feature delivery.

• Product-Minded Logic: Strong product intuition with the practical ability to navigate trade-offs between architectural perfection and shipping speed.

• Location: Based in Vancouver (or willing to relocate) for on-site standups at our downtown office.

• Education: A Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical industry experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience building or maintaining automated integration pipelines, webhooks, email parsers, or document/OCR data extraction workflows.

• Practical experience with Docker, containerized environments, and cloud infrastructure management using Terraform and Cloud to support automated deployment pipelines.

• Experience using or encouraging AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT) to accelerate team output, testing, and debugging.
