Payroll & Accounting Coordinator
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: $30.50/hour — higher pay available depending on experience
Schedule: 1st Shift
Lunch: 1 hour
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Payroll & Accounting Coordinator to handle weekly payroll and assist with accounting and employee-related administrative tasks. This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage confidential payroll information accurately and on schedule.
What You'll Handle
- Process weekly payroll for both office and field employees.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, 401(k) contributions, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Enter and verify payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, and employee pay-rate updates.
- Review payroll calculations, balances, and internal controls for accuracy.
- Prepare and file payroll tax requirements on a weekly, quarterly, and year-end basis.
- Prepare and process W-2s and other required payroll documentation.
- Process weekly employee expense reimbursements.
- Assist the Human Resources team with employee-related payroll matters.
- Support internal and external audits by gathering requested records and documentation.
- Provide general assistance to the Accounting Department.
- Download and upload weekly data files related to health and dental insurance.
- Process and maintain company credit card transactions.
- Help maintain payroll systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years of related accounting and/or payroll experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, reconciliation, internal controls, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive payroll and employee information professionally.
