About the role
Who we are
Provision seeks to create a world of labor abundance through physical AI. Robotics will initiate a world of opulence in which the work we have long deferred finally gets done and services and tasks we never imagined become ordinary, at greater speed and scale. Our role in bringing this transformation into labor abundance is our edge in complex, scaled physical world services operations. That manifests as capturing immensely diverse, in the wild, high quality pre-training data, as well as every component of the stack in which there is a need for physical world complexity and a need for scale. This includes Physical world evals, multimodal collection, post training, as well as deployments.
Our operating principles are as follows:
Integrity. It is our firm conviction that trust and integrity are powerful economic forces, in their ability to reduce transaction costs and correct for information asymmetries.
Velocity of action. Acceleration creates a compounding competitive advantage.
Ownership. We believe in having an internal locus of control, and accepting responsibility for all outputs one has supervision and influence over.
The role
This role is for a person located at our contract manufacturer's facility in Shenzhen who will take ownership of the manufacturing of our data collection hardware. This person will work on-site at the CM, walking the production lines, auditing processes, inspecting finished product, and reporting back on the condition of production.
This individual must also be knowledgeable about the operations of factories and how to navigate within those facilities. In particular, they must be able to think critically and come up with ways to find out information about possible vendors.
What they'll do
Take over the relationship with the CM and component suppliers for our data collection hardware, including camera modules, IMUs and sensor rigs, mounts, and PCBs/PCBAs
Conduct incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality inspection. Develop AQL sampling plans, establish inspection standards, and drive root cause and corrective action on defective product
Monitor and control yield, DPPM, lead times, MOQ, and unit cost for all components in the BOM
Manage NPI from EVT through DVT and PVT. This includes running pilot builds, providing DFM feedback to the hardware team in San Francisco, and obtaining golden sample approval prior to mass production
Enforce ECO discipline so that design changes are implemented correctly on the floor and what ships matches the current revision
Who are they:
Has managed contract manufacturing in Shenzhen before and is familiar with the local supplier base
Working knowledge of camera modules and optics, PCB fabrication and assembly, SMT, and mechanical assembly
Able to understand mechanical working drawings, GD&T, schematics, and a BOM, and able to hold a supplier to them
Experience with NPI process, quality systems, and supplier audits
Fluent in Mandarin and English
Mechanical or electrical engineering background strongly preferred
