2027 Business Systems Summer Internship Program

As a Business Systems Summer 2027 Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting technology solutions that help drive Protective's life insurance business. Depending on your interests and strengths in business systems or computer science, you may contribute to user interface design and development, SQL database enhancements, business analysis, requirements gathering, system integrations, and presentations that demonstrate how our systems support both internal users and key business operations.   Our Internship Program is an annual 8-week program that provides high-performing college students with hands-on experience working with an organization that has been recognized by TIME Magazine as one of America’s Best Companies in 2026. This program will include the opportunity to participate in personal mentoring and insight into our business operations. Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with business leaders to develop and execute solutions to real business problems. In addition to gaining meaningful work experience, interns will have the opportunity to participate in various community and professional development events.    Program Details:   Duration: May 31st- July 30th, 2027   Location: Corporate Office in Birmingham, AL.

Student Criteria:

• Education: Undergraduate or Graduate students. This program is designed and optimized for rising Junior or Senior Undergraduate students. Students must be actively enrolled in either an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program as of May 31st, 2027 to be eligible.
• Majors: Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Science, Industrial Engineering or similar.

What You'll Do:

• Develop and enhance front-end, web-based internal tools with back-end database connections (for interns with coding experience).
• Assist with the design, development, and implementation of user-facing applications and internal solutions.
• Support new SQL database initiatives, including data management and interface development.
• Gather and document user requirements to help shape new system interfaces and enhancements.
• Collaborate with team members to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned based on team needs.

Selection Process:

• Interviews: Candidates will be scheduled for an initial 15-minute interview with a recruiter, followed by 1 additional interviews with hiring managers.
