About the role
We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Raleigh, London, and Amsterdam.
Plaid’s Partnerships team develops strategic relationships with technology platforms and ecosystem partners that expand the reach and impact of Plaid’s products.
This role will focus on building Plaid’s partnerships across the capital markets ecosystem – working with the institutions that finance our lending customers to accelerate adoption of cash flow underwriting.
Plaid’s Credit team is building the future of lending by making cash flow data as widely used and trusted as traditional credit data. Our mission is to expand access to more affordable credit by giving lenders real-time financial insights that improve risk assessment and decision-making at scale.
You will develop Plaid’s strategy and partnerships across the capital markets ecosystem. The partner landscape is broad and includes capital providers, financing platforms, technology providers, and other companies that influence how lenders access and deploy capital.
You will assess market needs, identify and prioritize strategic partners, develop creative commercial structures, and negotiate complex agreements. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders across product, engineering, legal, go-to-market, and other functions to build partnerships that create meaningful value for Plaid, our partners, lenders, and consumers.
Responsibilities
Market Strategy: Assess and prioritize partnership opportunities that accelerate adoption of cash flow underwriting.
Deal Execution: Lead the full partner lifecycle from strategy and prospecting through discovery, negotiation, and execution.
Partner Growth: Grow partnerships from integration through launch and scaled adoption, working closely with product, implementation, and other internal teams.
Qualifications
8+ years of professional experience, including meaningful experience in capital markets, strategic partnerships, business development, or investing.
Strong understanding of credit and lending, including how lenders access and manage capital.
Experience developing and negotiating complex, strategic partnerships with senior stakeholders.
Strong cross-functional communicator who can work effectively with product, technical, legal, and commercial teams.
Strategic mindset and excitement about building a new partner ecosystem.
Demonstrated ability to succeed in dynamic, high-growth environments where roles and processes are still being defined.
Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
