Sr. Manager, Events
About the role
Pelago is the leading specialty substance use care provider, built on the belief that effective treatment means matching care intensity to what each member actually needs rather than defaulting to the most expensive intervention. Our programs guide members through every stage of the substance use spectrum, from unhealthy habits to active use disorders, delivering personalized treatment for tobacco, alcohol, opioid, cannabis, and stimulant use based on individual health, habits, genetics, and goals.
With Sona, our voice-first AI Mental Health Specialist, Pelago now applies that same clinically-driven model to mental health, pairing deep clinical expertise with technology to expand access without compromising care quality. We believe technology should make clinical care more precise and more human, not replace the judgment behind it.
Pelago has scaled to helping hundreds of employers and health plans and has already helped more than 750,000 members better manage their substance use. If you're passionate about AI and making an impact on the health of others, join us and make it happen!
Overview of the Role:
Pelago is looking for a Sr. Manager of Events to own the strategy and execution of our B2B event portfolio and select corporate experiences. This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who can connect event investments to commercial priorities, create thoughtful experiences for customers and prospects, and manage every detail from planning through follow-up.
This is a hybrid role with a high-collaboration rhythm (4 days/week in our NYC office).
Regular travel is required for conferences, customer-facing programs, and company events, including occasional evening or weekend commitments.
In this role you will:
- Own the annual event, calendar, and end-to-end execution of Pelago’s B2B events, including priority industry conferences and hosted customer and prospect experiences.
- Lead select corporate programs, including Pelago’s Client Advisory Board and President’s Club, in close partnership with executive and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Translate commercial goals into clear event objectives, audience strategies, activation plans, and measurable success criteria.
- Manage event budgets, forecasts, contracts, vendors, venues, production partners, and timelines with strong financial discipline.
- Partner with Sales, Partnerships, Client Success, Content, Brand, and Marketing Operations to develop pre-event promotion, onsite engagement, executive participation, and timely post-event follow-up.
- Create high-quality experiences that reflect the Pelago brand across booths, programming, hospitality, signage, collateral, and attendee communications.
- Track and report event performance, including engagement, pipeline influence, follow-up execution, and lessons that improve future investments.
- Co-own Pelago’s swag program and inventory, including sourcing, fulfillment, distribution, and vendor management.
- Build repeatable processes, playbooks, and planning tools that help Pelago execute events consistently as the business grows.
- Stay close to execution and step in wherever needed to deliver polished, well-run experiences.
The background we are looking for:
- 7+ years of experience leading events, field marketing, experiential marketing, or a closely related function, with meaningful ownership of B2B events.
- A track record of independently managing complex events from strategy and budgeting through onsite delivery and post-event measurement.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to keep multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and deadlines moving at once.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including confidence partnering with senior executives, sales leaders, customers, and external vendors.
- Sound judgment, high attention to detail, and a calm, resourceful approach when plans change.
- Experience using event and marketing technology to support registration, engagement, lead capture, follow-up, and reporting.
- Comfort connecting event activity to commercial outcomes and using performance data to improve the portfolio.
- Experience in healthcare, benefits, digital health, or another complex B2B industry is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the United States up to 25% of the time.
- Genuine curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI, and a proactive mindset toward exploring how they can enhance work, problem-solving, and innovation at Pelago.
