About the role
Quality Coordinator | Nox Metals | Detroit, MI
Nox Metals is a technology company in Detroit supplying metal. Our customers build aircraft, defense systems, and the machines that make them. When our material is wrong, their program slips.
This is the first quality role at Nox. You will not be handed a binder and told to maintain it. You will build the day to day system and grow into owning the whole function as we scale.
Full time, on site. Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility to cover second and weekend shifts as needed.
You will:
Run receiving inspection. Verify mill certs against the material and flag what does not match before it hits the floor
Keep lot traceability intact through the cut, and build the cert packages that ship with every order
Log nonconformances, contain the material, and track corrective actions to closure
Handle customer complaints and returns, and draft the response
Write the SOPs people actually use and keep the versions controlled
Keep calibration current and track incoming defects by supplier
Prepare audit documentation and support customer and third-party audits
Audit the floor to confirm people run the process as written
Work closely with the software team to ideate the solutions for quality issues discovered on the floor
You are:
Experienced in quality, inspection, or a hands-on manufacturing role, and ready to step up
Familiar with quality management systems, ISO 9001 or AS9100
Careful with documentation, because it is the product during an audit
Comfortable reading a mill cert and measuring material, or quick to learn
Comfortable building the program instead of inheriting one
Able to hold a line with a shift lead who is behind on a delivery
Nice to have:
Metals background. Plate, bar, rounds, mill certs, heat lots
Internal auditor training
Aerospace or defense supply chains
Exposure to a site preparing for certification
