Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Nexus team, responsible for delivering capabilities across Nexus and the broader Magnet One (M1) platform. You will help build and evolve cloud-native solutions that streamline digital forensics workflows and provide a seamless experience across our products.

As a senior member of the team, you will help shape the future of the platform by designing and delivering scalable solutions across the technology stack. You'll collaborate closely with Product, UX, and Engineering partners, contribute to architectural decisions, and drive the delivery of high-quality features in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

NOTE: Candidates must reside in Canada.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features across the Magnet One SaaS platform, from React-based user interfaces to C# backend services and APIs.
• Help evolve intuitive and cohesive user experiences, including shared navigation, consistent workflows, and unified design patterns across the platform.
• Build and enhance core case management capabilities that support forensic investigators throughout their workflows.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, taking ownership of quality, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and fellow engineers to define requirements, deliver customer-focused solutions, and continuously improve the user experience.
• Contribute to the design and operation of cloud-native services, including deployment, monitoring, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architectural planning to promote engineering best practices and long-term maintainability.
• Mentor team members and provide technical leadership through thoughtful collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Thrive in a fast-moving, customer-obsessed environment, adapting to evolving business priorities and opportunities.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.
• Strong full-stack development expertise, with experience building and supporting both front-end and back-end applications.
• Proficiency with React, TypeScript, and modern web development practices, including component-based architecture, state management, and responsive design.
• Experience developing backend services and APIs using C# and .NET technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills, sound engineering judgment, and a passion for building reliable, maintainable systems.
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated tests across multiple layers of an application.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• A proactive mindset and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a dynamic and evolving environment.
• A passion for working with talented teammates and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Experience leveraging AI technologies in software development, including natural language search, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Familiarity with Cloud, Kubernetes, containerization technologies, and modern CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience building and operating cloud-native SaaS applications at scale.
• Experience designing distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with AWS
• Exposure to digital forensics, cybersecurity, legal technology, or other enterprise software domains.

The Compensation range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. Please note that the actual compensation may vary depending on location and job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills. If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location and you are selected for an interview, the Talent Acquisition Partner can share more information with you.  If the compensation structure for the role includes an incentive component (i.e. most Sales roles) the range below represents total target compensation (TTC) (base salary + variable).

$110,000 - $160,000 CDN a year
