Role Overview
The Technical Director will become the senior technical authority for key projects at our Vyner studio, ensuring success in delivering products and services to our clients. Hands-on, client-facing, and leading projects from start to finish, this is a central technological position within the tech team and the business. You will lead all project technical production to ensure smooth delivery, advocate modern agentic SDLC workflows, and manage client technical relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Project Technical & Delivery: Plan, own, and oversee technical project architectures, implementations, and deployments. Monitor technical budgets, enforce deadlines with project Producers, review project outputs regularly, and ensure quality control (bug-free, robust, clean code).
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Align with clients' technical departments on needs, capabilities, and governance. Step in as Director to resolve client technical concerns and communicate complex technical concepts effectively (including scope creep).
- Business Development & Pitches: Assess briefs with leadership, present technology and processes in client pitch scenarios, and support the quoting process by estimating skill specialisms, time, and effort required.
- Technical Leadership & Innovation: Formulate short- and long-term project strategies, approve technical standards, identify/mitigate project risks, and advocate modern agentic SDLC workflows within the engineering team.
- Subcontractor & Partner Management: Oversee and liaise with external subcontractors and technical partners covering hardware/software integration and DevOps.
- HR & Line Management: Provide line management for a developer cohort in project teams (including freelance/contract workers), lead performance reviews, and support direct reports' continued professional development.
Candidate Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- 10+ years minimum experience in a technical lead or director capacity.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering 3D applications and Gaussian splatting.
- Thorough understanding of 3D Realtime core concepts and AI development best practices.
- Thorough knowledge of end-to-end software development lifecycles from design to deployment.
- Specialist knowledge in web technologies, Unity, AR/VR/interactive software, and mobile platforms (iOS and Android).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly translate complex tech to non-technical team members and clients.
Desirable
- Previous experience in the architectural, planning, or civil engineering industries.
- Experience with BIM pipelines and handling architecture/engineering data.
- Experience with enterprise-scale software architecture.
- An eye for good UX and design.
Location : London (Vyner Studio)
We value regular in-person collaboration because we think it leads to the best creative work however hybrid working is available around project commitments. Role requires regular attendance of 2–3 days per week at our London studio.

We follow pay transparency, meaning we publish a salary range for each role. The salary range is the full earning potential during someone’s time in a role. Salary offers are made within this range and based on your experience and parity with the strength of our existing team/s. The salary range for this role is £85,000 – £105,000 per annum.
