About the role
Mid Market Account Executive, Existing Business
The Reality
If you're reading this, you're weighing whether this job is worth a significant chunk of your time and career, so let me be straight about the role. You'll own a book of existing mid-market accounts, and your job is to make them bigger. Renewals matter and we expect you to protect them, but nobody here is going to hand you a retention number and call it a career. You carry an expansion quota, and the accounts you grow are the ones that count.
We're in the office five days a week in San Francisco. Expansion is a contact sport, and it moves faster when the account team, product, and founders are all in the same room catching signals early. We move quickly, we expect a lot, and the bar for what a single AE owns here is higher than most places you've worked.
You'll also be one of the few AEs anywhere who gets coached by the product you sell. We run our own calls through Hyperbound, so the same scoring and roleplay our customers use on their reps, we use on ourselves. If being measured by your own product sounds uncomfortable, that's worth sitting with before you apply.
This will probably be one of the hardest jobs you’ve had, but the pay off is real. Our NRR was 200%+ last quarter and we’re expected to grow at least 30% from new customers over the next 6-12 months.
What We're Building
Hyperbound is the Revenue Activation Platform and agentic operating system for sales, built across Hyperbound Practice (AI roleplay), Hyperbound Perform (real call scoring and coaching), and Kota, our AI agent that acts on what we find. As we put it internally, we don't just record what happens on a call, we change what happens next.
Founded in 2023 out of YC (S23), we're about 45 people now, Series A, $18M raised total. Last quarter we doubled headcount, revenue nearly doubled with it, and net revenue retention landed above 300%. Teams at LinkedIn, Workday, and Intel run their sales orgs on us. When your own product drives that kind of expansion inside an account, this job gets a lot more fun.
The Role
You'll own a book of Hyperbound's existing mid-market accounts and a quota based on growing them. That means finding the next team, the next use case, and the next budget inside accounts that already trust us, then running a sales cycle to land it. Practice, Perform, and Kota each open a different expansion path, and part of the craft is knowing which one a given account is ready for.
Renewal is table stakes here. The work that defines this seat is expansion: new seats, new divisions, new products, and turning a happy pilot into a company-wide standard.
You'll multi-thread across each account, build relationships past your original champion, and get in front of the economic buyer early instead of showing up at renewal hoping the numbers hold. Real product usage and customer outcomes are your best expansion signal, and reading them well is most of the game.
In your first 90 days, success looks like knowing your book cold, a live expansion pipeline built on named opportunities, and your first meaningful upsell closed. We'll show you where the whitespace is, and we're trusting you to go take it.
The Team
We're assembling a cracked team of builders, operators, and hunters. On the GTM side that means people who have built and scaled sales engines before, not folks who inherited a territory and coasted. We've hired from our competition, brought on former founders, and hired people who first met us as customers and loved the product enough to come build it.
Nobody here is precious about their lane. People see something broken and fix it, whether or not it's technically their job. You'll sit close to product and the founders, and the loop between what a customer tells you and what we ship is short on purpose.
We work hard and we celebrate properly. After our Series A we took the whole team to Bali.
At the same time, this isn't a mattress-under-your-desk startup: plenty of people here have kids, people leave to make dinner, and they come back the next morning and close deals. High standards don't require burnout, and we care about building something people can do for years.
(we've doubled in size since this photo was taken a few months ago)
Ownership and Equity
You own the account end to end: the expansion strategy, the relationships, the forecast, and the number. That cuts both ways, and when an account triples on your watch, that's yours too. Equity here is real, with secondary opportunities, and we genuinely want the people who help build this early to end up meaningfully rewarded for it.
