The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Associate in its Stockholm office to provide fundraising, outreach, coordination, and administrative assistance to the team. The Stockholm office serves as an important base for HRW’s development, fundraising, and outreach activities in Sweden.
This position is full-time and reports to the Development and Outreach City Director based in Stockholm. The successful candidate must be based within commuting distance of the Stockholm office and is expected to work from the office 3-4 days per week.
Responsibilities:
1. Support and coordinate the planning and implementation of all HRW activities and events in Sweden, including but not limited to the annual Stockholm Voices for Justice event, as well as evaluation of designated events to identify best practices and lessons learned;
2. Support and prepare various communication materials for both internal and external use, including content for newsletters, invitations, social media, and event-related mailings;
3. Maintain and help grow the Swedish HRW accounts on social media, primarily Instagram and LinkedIn, as needed;
4. Provide development and fundraising support by prospect research, tracking gifts and donor databases by updating records and information, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of the data, and performing revenue reconciliation;
5. Provide administrative support, including scheduling and preparing for meetings, taking minutes, drafting agendas and background materials, handling mail, responding to inquiries, translating and proofreading documents, and arranging travel.
6. Act as a liaison, maintaining active communication with other departments and project stakeholders, responding to general inquiries from both the public and internal teams;
7. Assist with recruiting, onboarding, providing guidance to, and coordinating interns and recruiting divisional staff as needed; and
8. Perform other tasks as may be required.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, business administration, international relations, events management, or a related field is required.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience is required and experience coordinating events is considered a strong asset.
Related Skills and Knowledge:
1. Prior office/administration experience and strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail are required.
2. Self-motivation and the ability to prioritize between multiple tasks, work with minimal supervision, and complete tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner, while maintaining confidentiality as needed is required.
3. Ability to work independently as well as function as a member of a team with staff in multiple locations is required.
4. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences, including donors are required, in order to work collegially and collaboratively within the team and across HRW to help create a positive, supportive, and inclusive culture.
5. Show care and commitment to the wellbeing, safety, and inclusion of our diverse and globally dispersed staff.
6. Demonstrate commitment to personal learning and development.
7. Proficiency in computer programs including MS Office applications is required; experience with Salesforce or other customer relationship management system (CRM)/donor database software is desirable.
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Swedish are required, and empathetic active listening skills.
9. Ability to make sound decisions consistent with functions is required.
10. Strong analytical skills and ability to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously are required.
11. Strong interest in human rights is required.

Salary and Benefits: Human Rights Watch seeks exceptional applicants and offers competitive compensation and employer-paid benefits. The gross annualized salary range for this position is SKK 350,000 - 365,000.
