About The Role:
The Manufacturing Team at Hermeus are the boots on the ground. We have a vast array of experiences ranging from welding, additive, tube bending, machining, integration, and avionics. We are a lean team who are responsible for building a vehicle that will fly. We provide crucial design feedback to our engineering team and can rapidly iterate on design and assembly. Spring: Around 16 weeks (January - April) Summer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing and process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency
- Partner with engineers and technicians to support hardware build, integration, and production activities
- Assist with root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and resolution of manufacturing issues
- Help evaluate designs for manufacturability, testability, and production readiness
- Support development and improvement of tooling, assembly processes, and test procedures
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that reduce build time, improve quality, and eliminate waste
- Assist with troubleshooting non-conforming hardware and documenting findings
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, test procedures, BOMs, and standard operating procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the transition of hardware from development into production
Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).
- Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, or manufacturing hardware through internships, coursework, research, competition teams, or personal projects
- Strong understanding of engineering first principles and interest in vehicle hardware
- Familiarity with manufacturing, assembly, testing, CAD, technical drawings, or GD&T
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus’s mission
- GPA of 3.0 or above
The hourly rate listed for this internship is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on degree level.
