The Midstream Operations Technician Intern is a temporary, summer-based position designed to provide hands-on experience and professional development for students interested in midstream pipeline or facilities operations. This role supports the Field Operations teams by assisting with a variety of hands-on, technical, and field-maintenance tasks, while gaining exposure to real-world midstream pipeline and facility operations.
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to active projects, work alongside experienced industry professionals, and build foundational knowledge of the midstream oil & gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist field operations staff with day-to-day tasks related to pipeline and facility site upkeep and maintenance activities.
- Support valve maintenance, filter changes, and general equipment upkeep across pipeline and facility assets.
- Perform site upkeep tasks, including weed whacking and general grounds maintenance, to support facility appearance and access.
- Participate in road crossing inspections and other routine field inspections as assigned.
- Attend team meetings and shadow various roles to gain insight into midstream field operations and daily execution.
- Help organize and maintain asset records, inspection logs, and maintenance reports.
- Learn and apply safety protocols and compliance requirements relevant to midstream operations.
- Collaborate with various departments to gain a broad understanding of how operations, maintenance, and construction work together in the field.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Energy-related field studies, or a related technical field.
- Strong interest in the energy industry, infrastructure development, or project execution.
- Basic understanding of field operations, mechanical, or construction principles is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Willingness to work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and field environments.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites.
Program Details
- Duration: Summer internship (typically May–August).
- Location: Based in the Moundsville, WV area, with work conducted primarily in the field across pipeline and facility sites.
- Schedule: Full-time during the summer (40 hours/week); 9/80 schedule where applicable.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
