WHAT YOU'LL DO
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Center Lead Technician to lead the successful delivery of data center infrastructure projects across enterprise, hyperscale, and colocation environments. As the primary owner for implementation activities, you will oversee the planning, coordination, execution, and operational handover of critical infrastructure deployments, ranging from new data center builds and capacity expansions to hardware refreshes, migrations, and technology rollouts. This role requires a strong blend of project leadership, technical understanding, operational excellence, and stakeholder management. You will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, logistics, supply chain, facilities, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and
to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, mission-critical environments and has a proven track record delivering complex infrastructure deployments while driving continuous improvement across implementation processes and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Site Leadership: Develop and manage the daily execution plan for our on-site team, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and effective communication across teams.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct firsthand inspections and quality checks of in-progress and completed work, intervening as necessary to ensure compliance with delivery standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all completed tasks, work orders, and any issues or discrepancies identified.
- Troubleshooting: Provide technical direction and coordinate with our vendor team to resolve operational issues or implement workarounds as required.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all vendor personnel follow applicable safety protocols, utilize appropriate PPE, and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Communication: Function as the main liaison among site leads, technicians, project managers, engineers, and Google stakeholders, ensuring transparent reporting and prompt issue resolution.
- Access and LDAP Management: Serve as the main point of contact for site access, LDAP activations, and any access-related issues, including use of internal tools and systems.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- 5+ years of experience delivering data center, infrastructure, or technical implementation projects.
- Strong understanding of data center operations, rack integration, structured cabling, network infrastructure, servers, power, cooling, and physical
infrastructure environments. - Proven experience managing complex deployments within enterprise, colocation, cloud, or hyperscale data centers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within fast-paced operational environments.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating external vendors, contractors, and technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience supporting hyperscale data center deployments, infrastructure expansion programs, or large-scale hardware migrations.
- Strong understanding of change management, operational readiness, commissioning, and implementation governance.
- Experience with project management platforms including Jira, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Asana, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with asset lifecycle management, supply chain operations, inventory control, and deployment logistics.
- Knowledge of data center operational standards, safety requirements, and implementation best practices.
