About the role
We are looking for an Automation Engineer to join the Advanced Factory Systems team, based within the Gas Engineering department in Zaragoza.
In this role, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and commissioning of automation systems for our gas projects, while also developing advanced automation solutions for our manufacturing lines. You will work on a wide range of equipment, both custom-made and standard, including gas process systems, robotics, machine vision, and other smart manufacturing technologies.
Working closely with mechanical, electrical, process, and production teams, your objective will be to deliver safe, reliable, and scalable systems that improve manufacturing performance, reduce manual intervention, and support the continued growth of our factory operations.
Responsibilities
-
Design, program, integrate, and commission automation and control systems for gas-engineering projects, from early design through start-up and operational handover.
-
Develop and implement automation solutions for manufacturing lines, including robotic systems, machine vision, material handling, and other advanced factory technologies.
-
Troubleshoot, optimize, and upgrade in-house and third-party equipment to improve safety, reliability, productivity, and operator experience.
-
Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, production, and maintenance teams to translate operational needs into robust technical solutions.
-
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including control narratives, functional descriptions, electrical or automation drawings, test procedures, and operating documentation; train end users when required.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, Mechatronic, Computer, or a closely related Engineering discipline.
-
At least 3 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or the integration and commissioning of industrial equipment.
-
Practical experience with PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, industrial networks, field instrumentation, and communication protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, or similar. Experience programming ABB and/or KUKA industrial robots is highly desirable.
-
Experience with, or strong interest in, robotics, machine vision, automated manufacturing equipment, and/or process plants involving gases or other industrial utilities.
- Fluent Spanish and English, with strong communication, problem-solving, and hands-on commissioning skills in an international and fast-paced environment.
