Horizon Surgery Center Beaches, located on the campus of Baptist Medical Center, our physician-led ambulatory surgery center is dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered outpatient care. The facility features three active operating rooms specializing in Orthopedic Hand, General Surgery, and Neuro-Spine procedures.

About the Role
The Business Office Assistant plays an essential role in creating a positive patient experience and supporting the efficient day-to-day operations of the business office. Responsibilities include patient check-in and check-out, scheduling, insurance and demographic verification, payment collection, documentation, and general administrative support.
The ideal candidate is professional, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
What You'll Do
Greet patients, physicians, visitors, and vendors in a professional and welcoming manner.
Perform patient check-in and check-out accurately and efficiently.
Verify and update patient demographic, contact, and insurance information.
Assist with scheduling and coordinating patient appointments and procedures.
Answer incoming calls, respond to routine questions, and direct calls appropriately.
Communicate appointment information, arrival instructions, and other administrative information to patients.
Assist with registration forms, consents, insurance documentation, and other required paperwork.
Collect and document patient payments, copayments, deductibles, and other applicable fees.
Support insurance verification, authorizations, billing, and other revenue-cycle activities.
Perform administrative tasks including scanning, filing, faxing, data entry, and document preparation.
Maintain accurate and organized electronic and paper records.
Communicate effectively with clinical staff, physicians' offices, patients, and other departments to support efficient patient flow.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements.
Follow ASC policies and procedures related to patient safety, infection prevention, security, and emergency preparedness.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front-desk and business office environment.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare, ambulatory surgery center, physician practice, hospital, or similar healthcare setting required.
Previous front-desk, scheduling, registration, customer service, or administrative experience required.
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes preferred.
Basic understanding of insurance terminology and patient financial responsibilities preferred.
Medical Assistant Background/ Certification preferred
Strong computer skills and ability to learn EMR, scheduling, and business office systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive patient information.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
