About the role
About the Role
This is a forward deployed engineering role at a Y Combinator-backed AI startup automating inside sales workflows for distributors and manufacturers. You will own the full technical lifecycle of customer deployments, from sales handoff to go-live, serving as the critical bridge between the product and its real-world impact in enterprise environments.
What You'll Do
Own end-to-end technical implementation of the platform for each customer, from initial handoff through live deployment.
Configure and fine-tune AI models for customer-specific use cases, including prompt engineering and model behavior adjustments.
Structure customer data and build system integrations with ERP platforms such as SAP and various REST/GraphQL APIs.
Develop prototypes to demonstrate new features or address emerging customer problems, then evolve them into scalable solutions.
Engage daily with both technical teams and senior business stakeholders to translate operational pain points into engineering decisions.
Surface product gaps and recurring patterns to the core engineering team, acting as the internal voice of the customer.
What We're Looking For
C2 or native-level German fluency, required.
Directly relevant Forward Deployed Engineering experience, not general engineering experience alone.
Strong full-stack engineering ability across Python, React, TypeScript, SQL, and data pipelines.
Experience integrating enterprise systems including ERP platforms, REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, or B2B SaaS implementations.
Practical experience with LLMs, AI agents, and prompt engineering, with the ability to adapt model behavior to specific business domains.
Proven ability to work with messy, inconsistent real-world data and establish reliable structures quickly.
Customer-facing technical experience, comfortable communicating with both end users and senior stakeholders.
High agency and ownership mindset, proactively identifying and solving problems without waiting for explicit direction.
Comfort with ambiguity, legacy systems, and a fast-paced, high-intensity on-site environment.
