Senior Drupal Developer
About the role
ASSYST is seeking an experienced Senior Drupal Developer to lead the architecture, development, and maintenance of secure, high-performing web applications. (Fully Remote role)
The Senior Drupal Developer will build custom modules and themes, optimize platform performance, ensure strict compliance with federal accessibility standards, and maintain the security posture required for defense and government systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Stack Drupal Development: Architect, build, and maintain enterprise-level Drupal solutions using custom PHP modules, Twig templating, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce robust Drupal security practices, manage site hardening, perform vulnerability remediations, and ensure full compliance with Section 508 accessibility guidelines.
- Performance Tuning: Implement advanced caching strategies, query optimizations, and CDN configurations to maximize site speed, reliability, and scalability.
- System Integration: Integrate third-party APIs, web services, and backend databases with Drupal applications.
- Quality Assurance & Maintenance: Conduct peer code reviews, create technical documentation, and debug complex full-stack issues across development, testing, and production environments.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Clearance Requirement: U.S. Citizenship with an active Public Trust or active DoD security clearance, or the ability/eligibility to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Certification Requirement: Active DoD 8570.01-M / 8140 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of verifiable, hands-on full-stack Drupal development experience.
Technical Proficiency:
- Documented mastery of custom Drupal module and theme development.
- Deep understanding of Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and audit remediation.
- Proven track record in Drupal caching architecture and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and modern web development workflows.
