We're looking for a Senior GCP & GKE Cloud Architect to lead an enterprise's first big step from on-premises infrastructure into Google Cloud. You'll design the cloud foundation, take the first containerized workload to production on GKE, and work side by side with the client's engineering and leadership teams. The goal isn't just to build the environment. It's to leave the team fully able to run it themselves.

What you will do:

Cloud Foundation & Governance

• Assess the current environment and define the target GCP architecture and operating model
• Design and build a GCP landing zone from scratch, covering environment structure, IAM, and security baseline
• Set up governance, policy guardrails, and operational standards from day one
• Put FinOps controls in place early: budgets, quotas, cost monitoring, and alerts

Hybrid Networking & Connectivity

• Design secure hybrid connectivity between GCP and the existing on-prem data center
• Define the networking architecture so cloud and on-prem systems work together
• Make sure systems that stay on-prem connect to cloud workloads securely and reliably

GKE Platform Engineering

• Guide the first containerized application onto a production-ready GKE path
• Design GKE clusters with Workload Identity, autoscaling, upgrade strategy, and security hardening
• Build CI/CD pipelines and observability for containerized workloads
• Write infrastructure as code with Terraform or OpenTofu for repeatable, consistent environments
• Give cloud-native architecture and portability guidance where it makes sense

Enablement & Knowledge Transfer

• Document architecture standards, patterns, and decisions
• Build operational runbooks for the new platform
• Coach the client team hands-on and hand over support as their maturity grows
• Present tradeoffs and recommendations to technical and executive stakeholders

Tools & Technologies:

• Platforms & Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), containers, hybrid on-prem/cloud environments, hybrid networking and connectivity
• Security & DevSecOps: IAM, GKE Workload Identity, security baselines, governance and policy guardrails, CI/CD pipelines, observability and monitoring
• Cloud & IaC: Terraform, OpenTofu, GCP landing zones, FinOps tooling (budgets, quotas, cost controls)

What you bring: Experience:

• Experience: 5+ years in DevOps or senior-level GCP architecture experience, including landing zones built from scratch in hybrid enterprise environments, plus deep production GKE expertise (cluster design, Workload Identity, scaling, upgrades, security, and operations)
• Consulting / Leadership: A trusted advisor who can explain tradeoffs clearly, defend architecture decisions to technical and executive audiences, and coach client teams to independence
• Mindset: Hands-on, pragmatic, and outcome-driven. You build with the team, not just for them, and you're comfortable with milestone-based delivery
• Technical Depth: Strong command of hybrid networking, Terraform/OpenTofu, FinOps practices, and modern cloud-native application architecture
• Migration Know-How: Experience guiding organizations through on-prem to cloud journeys
• Location: LATAM and able to work US business hours
