About the role
About Arketa
Arketa is building the operating system for modern fitness and wellness. Our mission is to make wellness more accessible by empowering studios and wellness entrepreneurs to grow beyond in-person classes. We provide a powerful, all-in-one platform to manage and scale hybrid wellness businesses, whether online, in-person, or both.
With Arketa, studios can manage schedules, accept bookings and payments, build on-demand video libraries, host retreats, run automated marketing, and launch fully branded apps and websites. We make it simple for founders to deliver a seamless, professional experience across every customer touchpoint. We've raised $15M in Series A funding and are growing quickly. It's a unique moment to join us. We're building a category-defining company in a fast-moving space, and we're looking for a leader who is excited to help shape what world-class partner support looks like in the wellness category.
About the Role
Arketa is seeking a talented and motivated Product Designer who is a self-starter. This is a broad, cross-project role rather than a seat inside a single pod. You'll work across many features and surfaces, which means your influence on the product is wide by design.
You'll also take ownership of our design system. We have one, but it hasn't been given the attention it deserves. We're looking for someone who sees that as an opportunity rather than a chore, and who wants to turn it into something both rigorous and genuinely good-looking.
This role is hybrid 3x a week to our NYC office in NoHo. We go in Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
About the Team
You'll work closely with Product and Engineering as a core design partner, not as a downstream service function. Because you're not assigned to one pod, you'll have visibility across the whole product and a real say in how our surfaces hang together.
This is a small, fast-moving team where designers are expected to show their work, present at team-wide check-ins, and own the outcomes. If you want a seat where your judgment shapes the product rather than just the pixels, this is that seat.
What You'll Do:
Work cross-project across many features and surfaces, rather than owning a single pod or product area
Take our existing design system and make it something the team actually wants to use: cohesive, scalable, and visually strong
Collaborate closely with the product and engineering teams to define and implement new features and design solutions
Take ownership of the user interface design, from wireframes and prototypes to high-fidelity visuals
Use AI tools such as Claude to build working prototypes, test ideas quickly, and get to the right answer faster
Partner with the product team to align design with business goals and user needs
Present design concepts, updates, and cross-team launches at team-wide check-ins
Stay current on industry trends and best practices in design and user experience
What success looks like:
We believe in setting our team up to thrive.
30 days: you're onboarded, becoming familiar in the product, and you've audited the current design system and surfaced where it's inconsistent or breaking down.
60 days: you're shipping alongside engineering across multiple surfaces, and the first foundational components of the refreshed design system are defined and in use.
90 days: you have materially impacted the quality of user experiences across the Arketa app, and it’s starting to show in product and customer satisfaction metrics
What we're looking for:
Roughly 5+ years in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design expertise and process. We're anchoring senior, but we're open in either direction for the right work
Design-first mentality: you thrive in a design-centric role and enjoy creating high-quality, user-centered interfaces
Outcome driven: it’s not just about building something beautiful. Your designs consider the desired business outcomes from the start, and you love to use data, session captures, and customer interviews to shape and refine your designs.
A mix of B2B and consumer experience is ideal: you can untangle a complex B2B workflow and you can make a consumer surface genuinely beautiful
Experienced in design systems: you've contributed to or led a design system that supports a growing product
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
Hands-on with AI: you're actively using tools like Claude to build prototypes and move from idea to working concept quickly
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
Organized, self-sufficient, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously
Bonus:
You love building design systems that are visually distinctive, not just consistent
Mobile and native app design experience
Experience at an early-stage or Series A company where design was not yet a defined function
Interest in fitness, wellness, or the studio and small business space
You Should Apply If
You want breadth: many surfaces, many features, and real influence across the product rather than one narrow lane
You'd be excited to inherit a design system that needs love and turn it into something you're proud of
You're already prototyping with AI and want to work somewhere that expects it rather than tolerates it
You can move fast without losing craft, and you can tell the difference between the two
You're mission-driven and excited about wellness becoming more accessiblee
You May Not Want to Apply If
You need an established design org, a defined design process, or a senior design mentor already in place
You prefer deep focus on a single product area over working across many
You'd rather inherit a polished design system than fix one
You want a slower pace or a more established later-stage environment
What We Offer (if in NYC):
Ownership and Opportunity for Advancement
Competitive Salary and Stock Options
Unlimited PTO: our policy is designed to give you the flexibility to rest, recharge, and take care of personal needs — while staying aligned with your team and responsibilities.
Medical, dental and vision health insurance
Fitness Class Reimbursement: we’re committed to supporting both employee wellness and our industry relationships. As an Arketa employee we see movement as opportunity.
Parental Leave Policy
For this role, the estimated annual base salary is up to $165,000- $185,000, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, we offer equity. We believe in compensating fairly and transparently, and we’re happy to provide more detail during the interview process.
