Job Purpose
Arbor is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Solutions Delivery team. This person will design, build and support enterprise applications and integrations across the organization. The role will also help us expand how we use AI, both in the solutions we build and in the way our team develops software. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on engineer who takes ownership, works well with others and moves projects forward without waiting to be directed.
Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities)
The Senior Software Engineer will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Design, build, test and support secure, reliable enterprise applications and integrations.
- Develop full-stack solutions using C#/.NET, SQL Server and Angular, including APIs, services, data access components and responsive user interfaces.
- Use AI tools to make software development faster and more effective, including coding, testing, documentation and troubleshooting, while reviewing and validating the output.
- Help identify practical ways to use AI in Arbor’s applications and business processes.
- Turn business and technical requirements into clear designs, implementation plans and working software.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through sound design decisions, code reviews and support for other engineers.
- Take ownership of assigned initiatives, identify risks and dependencies early and drive the work from concept through production support.
- Build security, authorization, auditing, testing and monitoring into the solutions you develop.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, business analysts and engineers across the organization.
- Participate as a senior member of an Agile/Scrum team, including planning, estimation, delivery and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: 7+ years of hands-on software development experience building and supporting production applications. Experience with AI development and a strong interest in how AI can improve software delivery are also important.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong hands-on development experience with C#/.NET and SQL Server.
- Strong experience with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, including responsive web applications.
- Experience building AI-enabled applications or integrations and an interest in continuing to grow in this area.
- Experience building Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers or working with MCP tools and resources is preferred. If you do not have direct MCP experience, you should be able to learn new technologies and integration standards quickly.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools while applying sound engineering judgment and validating the results.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, application integrations and data access patterns.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures, reusable components and software engineering practices.
- Experience with cloud-hosted applications and services. Microsoft Azure experience is preferred.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, application monitoring and Git.
- The ability to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on and accountable for individual development work.
- A self-starter who is comfortable taking a loosely defined goal, determining the next steps and driving the work through completion.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and business teams.
Travel: Approximately 5%
Arbor Realty Trust, Inc. offers a competitive base salary and discretionary bonus. The starting base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $160,000. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee work performance reviewed during the course of the year. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
