About the role
A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking highly motivated and diverse Structural Technical Intern (STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) to join the engineering team in our Pittsburgh, PA office for the 2027 internship period. This is a paid full-time position with anticipated duration from May through August 2027 (flexible) and has the potential to transition into a Full-Time Junior Engineer Role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders with partnerships with other engineering staff.
Responsibilities
- Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/reviews, cost estimates, research, procurement support, etc.;
- Perform data entry, management, evaluation, and presentation;
- Support the preparation of reports, plans, and specifications for clients;
- May work on field assignments as needed;
- Will be supported by leaders, mentors, and teammates; and
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old;
- Pursuing Bachelor or Associates Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field;
- Minimum GPA of 3.0;
- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills;
- Self-motivated, detail oriented person;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point); and
- Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCAD, MathCAD, Bentley Microstation, etc.) is preferred but not required.
