Senior Product Manager, Perception & World Understanding Skills
About the role
Agility’s commercially deployed humanoids operate alongside teams in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers—tackling physically demanding and repetitive tasks while enabling workers to focus on higher-value work. With industry-leading safety standards and years of proven deployment data, we're pioneering a new era of automation that enhances human potential.
About Us
Agility Robotics is a pioneer. Our humanoid robot, Digit, is the first to be sold into workplaces across the globe. Our team is differentiated by its expertise in imagining, engineering, and delivering robots with advanced mobility, dexterity, intelligence, and efficiency -- robots specifically designed to work alongside people, in spaces built for people.
Every day, we break through engineering challenges and invent new solutions and capabilities that will one day make humanoid robots commonplace and approachable. This work is our passion and our responsibility: our mission is to make businesses more productive, and people’s lives more fulfilling.
About The Role
Agility Robotics is looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead product strategy and development for Digit's perception and learned capabilities.
This is a highly technical product role at the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence, perception, and real-world autonomous behavior. You will be responsible for defining what Digit must understand about its environment, how world understanding should improve the robot's ability to perform useful work, and how those capabilities are evaluated and matured for production use.
You will partner closely with perception, machine learning, robotics, autonomy, simulation, and software engineering teams while working across the broader Product organisation to translate customer and application needs into scalable robot intelligence capabilities.
The role requires the ability to bridge emerging AI and robotics technologies with real product outcomes. You will help determine which capabilities should be developed, what level of performance is required, how progress should be measured, and when a capability is ready to become part of the production product.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the perception and world understanding capabilities roadmap: Define the product strategy, priorities, and roadmap for perception-enabled and learned robot capabilities required to support Digit's expanding application portfolio.
- Define capability outcomes: Translate customer workflows and application requirements into clear requirements for perception, scene understanding, object understanding, learned behaviors, adaptation, motion planning and other AI-enabled robot capabilities.
- Establish performance metrics: Define product-level metrics and evaluation criteria for perception and learned capabilities, including accuracy, robustness, generalization, latency, failure behavior, and operational performance.
- Drive capability maturity: Establish expectations for progressing capabilities from research or prototype stages through validation, productization, and production deployment.
- Bridge AI technology and product needs: Partner with AI Models & Tools Product and Engineering teams to translate product capability needs into requirements for underlying models, datasets, training systems, tooling, and infrastructure.
- Drive generalisation: Identify when capabilities should move beyond narrow task-specific implementations toward reusable models and behaviors that work across objects, environments, customers, and applications.
- Partner deeply with technical teams: Work closely with robotics, perception, machine learning, autonomy, simulation, and systems engineering teams to make product and technical trade-offs and ensure technical investments align with meaningful product outcomes.
- Define evaluation strategy: Partner with Simulation, Systems, Engineering, and field teams to establish representative evaluation environments, test scenarios, datasets, and benchmarks for robot capability performance.
- Manage cross-product dependencies: Coordinate requirements and roadmap dependencies across task skills, robot software, hardware, simulation, infrastructure, customer applications, and deployment systems.
- Inform long-term product strategy: Help shape Agility's longer-term robot intelligence strategy by identifying where advances in AI and robotics can unlock meaningful new product capabilities and customer value.
- Communicate product direction: Clearly articulate product priorities, technical trade-offs, capability maturity, and roadmap decisions to engineering leaders, executives, commercial teams, and other stakeholders.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of Product Management or equivalent product leadership experience in robotics, autonomous systems, AI/ML, computer vision, or another deeply technical product environment.
- Strong understanding of machine learning, perception, robotics, autonomous systems, or related technical domains.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with highly technical engineering and research teams.
- Experience translating ambiguous customer or product problems into measurable technical capability requirements.
- Strong understanding of the distinction between technology performance and production product readiness.
- Experience defining metrics, benchmarks, or evaluation frameworks for complex technical products.
- Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and communicate their product implications to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to operate across multiple teams and influence without relying on direct authority.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with a willingness to engage deeply in product execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You May Have
- Experience with computer vision, foundation models, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, learned policies, or multimodal AI systems.
- Experience with manipulation or mobile robotics.
- Experience taking machine learning or robotics capabilities from research through production deployment.
- Experience with simulation, synthetic data, evaluation infrastructure, or large-scale robotics datasets.
- Experience building products that must operate reliably under significant real-world variation.
- Experience in warehouses, logistics, manufacturing, or other industrial environments.
- Experience with humanoid robots or mobile manipulation platforms.
- Advanced degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
