Job Description

The Investigative / Intelligence analyst will apply project management, open-source research, behavioral threat assessment and management, threat assessment, and Program legal and policy guidance, together with strong writing and editing skills, to support longer-term research, production, field support, investigations and office improvement initiatives. The Analyst is expected to work autonomously, contributing meaningfully to initiatives even in the absence of clear tasking, and must maintain a high degree of organization across concurrent responsibilities. The Analyst will be expected to contribute significantly to larger office initiatives and to independently lead projects of medium complexity. The Analyst must be highly communicative, with the ability to coordinate effectively across groups and to brief initiative status to the government on a regular basis, both formally and informally. The Analyst is expected to adjust their work in response to government feedback and shifting priorities. Strong written communication is essential: the Analyst must write clearly and concisely in accordance with approved Program templates and style guides and must be able to edit products drafted by other personnel to ensure quality and consistency. The Analyst will advise the government on the status of current initiatives and recommend new or improved approaches where appropriate. In addition, the Analyst will collaborate with Business Analysts, Automation Engineers, and other personnel to identify processes and sub-processes suitable for automation and will support the development of process and functional requirements documentation in furtherance of these automation efforts.   Responsibilities/Duties:  
• Monitor Classified Intelligence. Continuously review and research classified cable traffic and other intelligence reporting to identify potential direct and indirect threats relevant to U.S. diplomatic facilities and personnel, as well as to other U.S. interests overseas. Maintain situational awareness based on classified reporting during breaking events overseas.
• Evaluate Dissemination Criteria. Assess classified intelligence to determine whether it meets predefined threat criteria for dissemination to operational stakeholders.
• Disseminate Threat Intelligence. Quickly generate and distribute short, templated threat notifications to overseas security personnel, domestic desk officers and analysts, and external agencies.
• Support Data Calls/Requests for Information. Answer requests for information from Senior Watch Officers, office management, and other partners while staying within the bounds of mission requirements. As needed, may provide information in both written and oral briefing formats.
• Databases and Information Logging. Maintain classified and unclassified data logs for disseminated notifications and leverage intelligence toolkits and databases to support threat warning operations. 
• Conduct Cross-Network Operations. Monitor reporting on a TS/SCI network while disseminating information through a Secret network.
• Manage Workload. Operate autonomously, managing time effectively while adhering to established processes and procedures.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders. Work closely with colleagues and organizational partners to obtain and share security-related intelligence, ensuring timely awareness of relevant threat reporting. 

Education and Background

• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience.

Required Skills

• Prior experience monitoring, researching, and disseminating security and/or threat-related intelligence reporting, particularly in a U.S. government or Department of State context.
• Strong ability to identify relevant intelligence and generate accurate, timely, concise synopses of reports.
• Ability to follow established processes, procedures, and written templates.
• Proficiency in databases and tools used to access and disseminate classified information.
• Strong skills in oral and written communication to present clear, concise information overviews.
• Ability to manage time and work independently to achieve assigned tasks, while also taking direction from both mid- and senior-level supervisors responsible for management of complementary information-sharing missions.
• Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Highly collaborative, with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels.
• Customer service mindset, with a strong desire to meet customer needs within established mission parameters.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience working on a watch floor, particularly if involved in threat warning and/or intelligence operations.
• Familiarity with Department of State and other U.S. government agency missions, databases, search platforms, information handling systems, and/or law enforcement databases and tools.
