Position Summary:The Engineering Tools & Licensing Administrator is responsible for the deployment, administration, support, and lifecycle management of engineering software applications used across Hardware, Software, Systems, FPGA, and Mechanical Engineering teams.
This role manages software licensing, license servers, vendor relationships, renewals, budgeting, application deployments, virtual desktop environments, and technical support for critical engineering toolsets. As the primary liaison between Engineering, IT, and software vendors, the position ensures uninterrupted access to business-critical engineering applications while maintaining compliance, cost effectiveness, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Software Licensing & Vendor Management (40%)
- Manage engineering software licenses, subscriptions, and maintenance agreements.
- Administer and maintain license servers and license utilization reporting.
- Coordinate software renewals and negotiate licensing requirements with vendors.
- Track software usage and identify opportunities for license optimization and cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and audit requirements.
- Develop relationships with software vendors and serve as the primary point of contact for technical and commercial matters.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting activities for engineering software expenditures.
- Tool Support & Troubleshooting (25%)
- Provide technical support for engineering applications used across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Troubleshoot licensing, connectivity, installation, and performance issues.
- Work directly with engineers, IT teams, and software vendors to resolve application-related problems.
- Support geographically distributed users through remote support tools and processes.
- Escalate and coordinate complex issues with vendors as needed.
- Application Deployment & Virtual Desktop Management (15%)
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain engineering software applications.
- Support deployment automation and standardization efforts.
- Manage virtual engineering desktop environments.
- Ensure tool availability, reliability, and performance across engineering environments.
- Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to support application hosting requirements.
- PLM/PDM Administration (10%)
- Support administration and maintenance of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Manage user access, permissions, and system configurations.
- Assist with upgrades, integrations, and troubleshooting activities.
- Support engineering workflows and data management processes.
- Documentation, Budgeting & Governance (10%)
- Develop and maintain procedures, user guides, and technical documentation.
- Create software asset inventories and license tracking records.
- Support preparation of budget estimates and licensing forecasts.
- Support governance processes related to software acquisition, deployment, and compliance.
- Generate reports and metrics related to software utilization and spending.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT support, engineering application administration, or a related role.
- Ability to provide support during core U.S. business hours and collaborate effectively across multiple U.S. time zones to support geographically dispersed engineering teams.
- Experience administering software licensing systems and license servers.
- Experience supporting users in geographically distributed or global environments.
- Experience providing remote technical support and collaborating with vendors.
- Knowledge of software asset management, licensing models, and vendor management practices.
- Experience developing software budget estimates and recommending licensing strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting engineering organizations, aerospace/defense companies, or other regulated engineering environments.
- Experience with engineering software tools
- Knowledge of software asset management and compliance practices.
- Experience working with global engineering and IT teams.
- Experience with project coordination and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
