Product Manger - Federations

  • Onsite

About the role

Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human

Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.

This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.

About the Role

As Product Manager, Federations, you own product strategy and execution for our Federations roadmap. The Federations team owns how user, machine, and agentic identities move inbound and outbound of Okta via industry-standard protocols. This includes outbound federations, which span how Okta acts as an identity provider to downstream apps and services (OAuth/OIDC, SAML, API access management), as well as inbound federations, which span how Okta consume identity from external sources (external idPS, social auth, JIT provisioning, claims mapping, and logout).

Federations is foundational to the entire Okta product portfolio. You'll work closely with engineering, design, other product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders across Okta's platform to ensure federation capabilities evolve strategically.

This role requires being able to deep-dive technically and build protocol fluency, you'll be expected to reason credibly about OAuth, OIDC, SAML, and related specs with engineering, standards teams, and customers.

What You'll Do

  • Own roadmap and prioritization for your product area, balancing standards leadership, security, customer requests, and platform strategy
  • Collaborate with design and engineering to define, scope, and ship experiences that meet protocol requirements (SAML, OIDC, OAuth2) without compromising security, interoperability, or user experience
  • Work directly with customers, Solutions Engineering, Support, Standards, and other product teams to understand platform needs and translate them into product requirements
  • Use AI tools to accelerate spec writing, competitive analysis, and rapid prototyping to drive roadmap alignment and execution
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams, including engineering, field teams, tech partnerships,  and marketing, to ensure the successful launch and adoption of federations-related experiences
  • Serve as the subject matter expert, representing Federations in customer escalations, executive briefings, and enterprise prospect evaluations as well as partnerships with Marketing and GTM counterparts
  • Track industry trends and think strategically to develop solutions that are differentiated from the competition

What You Bring to Okta

  • 3+ years experience in product management
  • Experience in identity, security, enterprise-scale, platform, or developer products
  • Ability to have in-depth technical discussions with engineering teams.
  • Ability to build working fluency in federation protocols, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, to have credible conversations with engineers and customers
  • Ability to connect platform-level decisions to Okta's broader business outcomes and market position as a technology leader
  • Ability to empathize and dig deeper into customer problems and needs before designing solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable flexing between spec-level detail and executive narrative
  • Entrepreneurial and ownership mindset - given an ambiguous problem, you decide what matters, decide what to do about it, and drive it forward.
  • Collaborative by default - you strive to earn trust with customers, cross-functional partners, and stakeholders. Your default is to bring people in early and often to inform a blended, stronger direction.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with API access management, non-human identity, or agentic identity use cases
  • Experience contributing to or engaging with standards bodies (OpenID Foundation, IETF, etc.)
