About the role
ABOUT MEM0
We're building the memory layer for AI agents: long-term memory that lets AI remember conversations, learn from interactions, and build real context over time, the difference between a chatbot and something that actually knows you. We're already powering millions of AI interactions for enterprise customers and a fast-growing open-source community (160k+ developers and counting).
We're backed by top-tier investors through a $24M Series A & Seed, early enough that the systems you build now become the foundation everything else is built on.
This role owns the product surface of the Mem0 Platform. You'll build features end to end across Next.js and Python, design the APIs, write the backend logic, own the data models, and ship to production. Our users are developers integrating us into their own agents, so the interface you design is the product as far as they're concerned.
You'll ship fast without trading away code quality, performance, or reliability, and you'll stay with what you build once it's live. You'll work directly with design, research, and customers to turn real problems into product.
This role reports directly to Deshraj Yadav, our Co-founder and CTO, and works closely with the engineering team in San Francisco.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Ship end-to-end features: Design APIs, build UIs, write backend logic, own data models, and deploy to production.
Build for scale and speed: Optimize latency, caching, and query patterns. Keep pages snappy and backends reliable.
Own quality: Write tests, enforce typing and linting, review PRs, and maintain clean, well-documented code.
Collaborate deeply: Work with design on UX, with research to integrate new memory capabilities, and with customers to refine requirements.
Operate what you build: Add observability, set alerts, debug production issues, and drive continuous improvements.
Lead with product sense: Prioritize ruthlessly, make trade-offs explicit, and iterate based on data and feedback.
Go beyond your lane: Unblock teammates, learn new tools on the fly, and do what it takes to deliver.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
3+ years of experience shipping full stack web applications at scale using Next.js/React and Python.
Strong Python fundamentals and familiarity with modern web stacks (REST, Postgres, Redis, Celery or similar queues).
Solid front-end depth: component architecture, state management, forms, accessibility, SSR/ISR.
Track record of owning features end to end, from design doc through rollout and post-launch iteration.
Code quality mindset: unit and integration testing, type safety (TypeScript, mypy or pyright), CI/CD, and a thoughtful review culture.
Comfortable operating production systems (logs, metrics, tracing) and meeting low-latency requirements.
Clear communicator who works well across design, research, and GTM.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience integrating LLM or memory features into products (RAG, embeddings, vector DBs).
Real-time features (WebSockets, server actions, streaming), file uploads, and background jobs at scale.
Infra awareness: Docker, IaC, and basic Kubernetes, Vercel, AWS or GCP deployment patterns, with cost thinking.
Product and UI polish: Tailwind, design systems, charts, empty states, error UX, performance budgets.
Security and privacy basics (PII handling, audit logging).
Prior time at an early-stage startup. Series A, YC, or founding engineer experience tells us a lot.
OUR CULTURE
Velocity with craftsmanship: We build for the long term, not just shipping features. We move fast but never sacrifice reliability or thoughtful design. Every system needs to be fast, reliable, and elegant.
Extreme ownership: Everyone at Mem0 is a builder-owner. If you spot a problem or opportunity, you have the agency to fix it. Titles are light; impact is heavy.
High bar, high trust: We hire for talent and potential, then give people room to run. Code is reviewed, ideas are challenged, and wins are celebrated, always with respect and curiosity.
Data-driven, not ego-driven: The best solution wins, whether it comes from a founder or an engineer who joined yesterday. We let results and metrics guide our decisions.
