Marketing Associate

About the role

This role
We're looking for a marketer who builds things. Someone who can take a blank page and turn it into something people notice: an event, a campaign, a piece of content. You will decide how Lightdash shows up in the world (events, community, partnerships).

This is a role for someone with initiative and taste. We care less about a perfect CV and more about whether you can see what good looks like and go make it happen. We're open to people early in their marketing career, as long as you're ready to hit the ground running.

What makes this role different

We're an AI-first company, and we mean it. We'll throw genuinely interesting, sometimes slightly crazy challenges your way. No two days will look the same. One week you're running a booth at a conference; the next you're spinning up a campaign from scratch or figuring out an entirely new channel. If you like ambiguity and the freedom to figure it out, you'll love it here.

What you'll actually work on

  • Events. Lightdash's events presence is growing fast. You'll own our events calendar: deciding which conferences we attend, whether we go with a booth, a talk, a side event, or something we throw ourselves. You'll manage logistics end-to-end: venues, vendors, assets, speaker coordination, registrations, and being on the ground when it matters. We run our own meetup series and you'll help grow that too.

  • Content. Turning what happens in the world (events, product launches, conversations with customers, things we're thinking about) into blog posts, write-ups, and social content. You'll also own production across our marketing calendar and help keep the content engine running.

  • Community. We have a real community of data practitioners on Slack, on LinkedIn, at events, in the dbt ecosystem. You'll help us nurture it: keeping it active, finding ways to give back, and turning lurkers into advocates. You'll spot the people worth knowing and help us build genuine relationships with them.

  • Other stuff. This is a startup. You'll pitch in on product marketing, the website, or whatever else you're curious to try your hand at.

What we're looking for

We care about drive, taste, and curiosity more than a perfect CV. Here's what would make you stand out:

  • Experience. 1+ years in-house marketing at a startup. B2B tech is a bonus.

  • Initiative. You've built something from scratch, end to end. A project, a program, an event, a side hustle, a community, something you made real without being told exactly how. You spot what needs doing and do it.

  • Taste. You know what good marketing and good branding look like. You have opinions about what's great and what's forgettable, and an instinct for the details that make something feel polished and on-brand.

  • Strong communicator. Written and in person. You can write a compelling outreach email and hold a room at a meetup.

  • Organised where it matters. Deadlines don't slip, vendors get chased, and nothing falls through the cracks.

  • AI-native. You use AI tools as a genuine part of how you work. Not just for writing, but to move faster and do more with less.

Bonus

  • Experience building or nurturing a community, in-house or agency (B2B tech is a bonus).

  • Familiarity with tools like Attio, Google Analytics, Figma, and Framer.

  • Existing relationships in the data / analytics / dbt community.

What you'll get

  • Competitive salary

  • Real ownership from day one

  • Broad exposure across marketing: events, content, community, partnerships, campaigns

  • Direct mentorship from an experienced team, with full visibility into how a fast-growing startup approaches marketing
