Apply: https://job-boards.greenhouse.io/theiconic/jobs/8146291

## About the role

**Maintenance Technician**

Since 2011, THE ICONIC has redefined the future of retail in Australia and New Zealand. As the #1 fashion e-commerce destination in the region, our e-commerce platforms (Retail, Marketplace and Services) provide an inspiring and seamless end-to-end customer experience through our own technology innovations. We stand for benchmark-setting customer service, delivery options, returns policies, and curation of brands.

**Fulfilment Centre Operations at THE ICONIC**

Our Fulfilment Centre (FC) Operations team is made up of four core departments – Inventory, Outbound, Inbound and Marketplace – operating around the clock to ensure our customers receive their products in great condition and quickly. Our FC is equipped with active pick towers, ASRS (Automated Storage & Retrieval System) and connected automated sorter, AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), multiple conveyor systems and an automated continuous packing machine.

**A bit about the role..**

We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician with practical experience in industrial, manufacturing, warehouse or automated material-handling environments. You will complete preventative maintenance, respond to equipment faults, perform first-line mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting, maintain accurate CMMS records, and support equipment availability across conveyors, sortation, robotics and packing equipment.

The successful candidate will have strong practical fault-finding skills, a sound understanding of safe isolation and LOTO practices, and the ability to work independently on routine maintenance while escalating complex technical issues appropriately. A trade qualification, technical certificate, apprenticeship background or equivalent hands-on experience is preferred. Experience with automation, PLC/HMI diagnostics, VFDs, pneumatics, hydraulics and CMMS systems will be highly regarded.

This is not a graduate engineering role and does not require senior-level PLC or electrical licensing capability. It is a hands-on industrial maintenance role for someone who can independently complete routine PMs, mechanical repairs and first-line fault finding, while developing towards automation and controls capability.

**What you will do..**

- Complete planned preventative maintenance on conveyors, robots, sorters and packing equipment.

- Respond to equipment abnormalities and breakdowns, completing initial diagnosis, containment and repairs within your authorised scope.

- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and automated equipment issues.

- Support authorised repairs involving PLC/HMI systems, VFDs, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical components.

- Escalate incidents to OEMs, integration partners or internal teams in line with the escalation process.

- Complete accurate work orders, maintenance logs and documentation in the CMMS.

- Help maintain equipment availability and meet key performance targets, including uptime, MTTR and MTBF.

- Manage critical spare parts, tools and repair kits to support fast and effective maintenance.

- Work with the Automation Engineer to investigate root causes and implement reliability improvements.

- Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations and Warehouse teams to minimise disruption to fulfilment activities.

- Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment when required.

- Participate in continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen, 5S and TPM.

- Identify and implement practical improvements to equipment, processes and maintenance activities.

**Here’s the essential skills to set you off on an ICONIC journey..**

- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and practical fault-finding ability, with 2+ years’ experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, warehousing, automated MHE, or a similar operational environment.

- Trade qualification, technical certificate, completed/part-completed apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronic or industrial maintenance.

- Experience completing planned preventative maintenance activities and responding to equipment faults or breakdowns.

- Working knowledge of conveyors, motors, sensors, pneumatics, drives, packing equipment, sortation or other automated equipment.

- Ability to safely isolate equipment and follow LOTO, permit-to-work and site safety procedures.

- Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and equipment manuals.

- Practical problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify likely causes of faults, complete first-line repairs, and escalate appropriately where specialist support is required.

- Experience using a CMMS or similar system to complete work orders, record maintenance activity and document faults.

- Ability to manage tools, spare parts and basic maintenance kitting to support timely repairs.

- Positive, proactive approach, with the ability to work independently on routine work and collaboratively with Operations, OEMs and contractors.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills.

**Desirable**

- Experience maintaining automated material-handling equipment, including conveyors, sorters, robotics, ASRS, packing machines or warehouse control systems.

- Basic PLC/HMI fault diagnosis experience, such as reviewing alarms, I/O status and machine interlocks under authorised procedures.

- Exposure to VFDs, servo systems, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.

- Experience supporting equipment commissioning, testing or handover of new installations.

- Formal trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, fitting, mechatronics, automation or a related field.

- Electrical licence, forklift licence, EWP licence, or relevant working-at-heights training.

- Experience contributing to root-cause analysis and implementing practical reliability or process improvements.

- Experience liaising with OEMs, integrators or external service providers during equipment faults or planned works.
