# Full-Stack Software Engineer (Remote, US West Timezone Overlap)

**Tailor** — Remote (Anywhere in the world)

## About Tailor

Tailor is the headless ERP that gives fast-growing retail brands a composable, API-first platform to run operations with speed, flexibility, and control.

🧱 Legacy ERP is too rigid: Systems like NetSuite and SAP take months (or years) to implement and break with every change. Tailor is modular, headless, and easy to adapt.
🧩 Point solutions don’t scale: Tools like inventory or order management software solve one problem, but can’t talk to each other or keep up with growth.
📊 Spreadsheets are everywhere: From demand planning to purchase orders, even $100M+ brands still rely on Excel. Tailor replaces duct-taped workflows with ops modules you can tweak, combine, or scale
⚡️ Complex workflows need custom logic: Whether it's multi-location inventory, DTC + B2B orders, or light manufacturing (like kitting or lot tracking), Tailor supports flexible automations out of the box.
👟 Operators can move faster: Launch backend modules in minutes, not months. Tailor's low-code tools let teams build, automate, and adapt without waiting on engineering or implementation agencies.

Built for composable retail:
- Headless backend with GraphQL APIs
- 50+ integrations (Shopify, QuickBooks, 3PLs, etc.)
- Custom automations via Pipelines, Functions, and Event Triggers
- State machines for approvals and multi-step workflows
- AI features like OCR and vector search built in

Tailor is already powering operations at fast-growing omnichannel brands and modern manufacturers.
We’re proud to be the first Japan-based company to join Y Combinator.

## About the role

##### About Tailor

Tailor is pioneering **Headless ERP technology** — a new way for growing companies to design internal workflows that fit their business, not the other way around. Our platform combines the flexibility of modern developer tools with the power of enterprise-grade operations.

We’re helping multi-channel retailers, manufacturers, and B2B businesses replace rigid systems with **adaptive, composable infrastructure**. If you care about solving complex real-world problems and building products that scale from first principles, you’ll fit right in.

##### The Role

We’re looking for a **Full-Stack Software Engineer** to join Tailor full-time as one of our early technical hires.

This is a hybrid role that blends **core product development** with **customer-facing implementations** — building real applications on Tailor’s platform while contributing reusable patterns and components back into the product.

You’ll collaborate directly with Forward Deployed PMs and customers to translate messy, real-world workflows into elegant, maintainable systems. Over time, your work will define how Tailor scales — not just in code, but in culture.

##### What You’ll Do

- Scope ambiguous customer asks, prototype quickly, and iterate into stable customer deployments using Tailor’s platform.

- Engage with customers with our Forward Deployed Product Manager to understand the customer needs, and iterate into stable customer deployments using Tailor’s platform.

- Productize repeatable solutions, turning bespoke implementations into scalable modules for accounting, e-commerce, logistics, and other workflows.

- Build and ship production-grade features across our stack — from front-end UIs to backend APIs, integrations, and data models.

- Work with the founding team to shape engineering standards, developer experience, and platform architecture as we grow.

##### Who You Are

- 4+ years of experience building and shipping full-stack web applications in production environments. Proficiency with TypeScript, [Node.js](https://nodejs.org/), GraphQL and React is a plus.

- Strong foundation in data modeling, API design, and ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability in production systems.

- Comfortable integrating with third-party APIs and external platforms across accounting, commerce, or logistics domains.

- Pragmatic engineer with a bias toward outcomes — you value shipping solutions that solve real problems over perfect engineering.

- Comfortable with ambiguity — able to decompose fuzzy asks, prioritize independently, and ship without a complete spec.

- Enjoy working with customers and turning complex operational pain points into smart, maintainable software.

##### Compensation, Location & Benefits

- Compensation: $120,000 – $160,000 USD / year

- Remote-first (anywhere with at least 6 hr overlap with US west coast)Occasional customer meetings (remote only, no travel required)

- Benefits:PTO & paid holidays

- Work-from-home setup stipend

- Parental leave and family support

##### About the interview

We keep our process fast, transparent, and respectful of your time.

1. Intro call (15 min) — alignment on role, background, and mutual fit.

2. Practical exercise (paid, 1–3 hrs) — scoped feature or workflow problem built using Tailor’s platform.

3. Final interview (60 min) — deep dive into your technical experience and collaboration style.
