The Image Direction Specialist is responsible for executing real-time switching and on-air control within SportyNet’s digital television environment. This professional works inside the channel’s switcher/control room, ensuring seamless transitions, correct execution of breaks, insertion of graphics and promos, and maintaining the integrity of the broadcast signal.

Acting as a key link between Production, MCR, Engineering, and Programming, the Switcher Room Operator ensures that every on-air output matches the channel’s technical, editorial, and timing requirements.

**What you'll be doing**

Live Switching & On-Air Execution

- Operate switcher/control room systems during live shows, continuity blocks, replays, and special broadcasts

- Execute transitions, cuts, wipes, and on-air graphic elements according to the rundown or control-room cues

- Trigger commercial breaks, promos, channel IDs, and sponsored content at precise timing

- Follow instructions from directors, producers, and technical supervisors during live broadcasts

Technical Signal Monitoring & On-Air Quality Control

- Monitor outgoing program feed for video quality, audio consistency, sync, and timing accuracy

- Identify and respond quickly to black frames, freeze frames, audio drops, misfires, or graphic errors

- Ensure redundancy paths and backup signals are ready and functional

- Run pre-show checks to verify all on-air elements (graphics, feeds, VTs, transitions)

Coordination with MCR, Production & Editorial Teams

- Maintain constant communication with MCR for playlist execution, timing conflicts, and late changes

- Work with Production to ensure all assets (VTs, promos, lower-thirds, bugs) are ready and loaded

- Collaborate with Programming to confirm break timing, revised schedules, and last-minute adjustments

- Support the editorial team during breaking news or unexpected content switches

Switcher Room Setup & Technical Preparation

- Prepare sources, inputs, keyers, DSKs, and macros required for each show or continuity block

- Verify routing of cameras, vMix sources, graphic systems, server outputs, and remote feeds

- Load and confirm correct graphic templates, transitions, and overlays

- Coordinate with Engineering for switcher updates, troubleshooting, and configuration checks

Commercial & Promo Insertions

- Execute commercial breaks with accurate timing, following programming logs and MCR instructions

- Ensure promos, branded moments, sponsorships, and bumpers fire correctly and completely

- Report any misfires or discrepancies to MCR and Programming

Workflow Documentation & Operational Discipline

- Maintain detailed logs of on-air issues, operator actions, and technical alerts

- Follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for switcher room operation

- Ensure clean and organized operation stations, routing sheets, and control interfaces

- Participate in rehearsals, pilots, and simulations for new shows or technical upgrades

**What you'll bring**

- Degree or technical training in Broadcasting, Audiovisual Production, Media Engineering, or related fields

- Experience operating switcher/control room systems in TV, live production, or digital broadcast

- Familiarity with studio control rooms, MCR environments, and broadcast workflows

- Experience with live sports broadcasts is a strong advantage

- Proficiency with broadcast switchers and control-room automation systems

- Understanding of signal routing, SDI/IP workflows, multiviewers, and video server operations

- Knowledge of audio/video standards, color, sync, and on-air timing

- Familiarity with graphic systems (CG, overlays, bugs, lower-thirds)

- Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and respond to live broadcast incidents

- Intermediate English for documentation and communication with vendors
