## About the role

Join Premier Automation as an **Electrical Estimator** and help develop accurate, competitive solutions for custom industrial electrical and automation projects. We’re seeking experienced technical professionals with backgrounds in industrial controls and automation, drives and motor control, electrical estimating, or related technical sales to support estimating needs across our engineering teams.

You’ll review customer requirements, develop system concepts, select and size components, create BOMs and technical documentation, and prepare professional estimates and proposals. Based in Monroeville, PA, **Premier Automation** designs and builds custom control panels, motor control systems, drives, and industrial automation solutions for manufacturers worldwide.

- Job Type: Full-time or part-time opportunities

- Schedule & Travel: Monday–Friday with flexible daytime office hours; occasional customer site visits and travel as needed

- Estimating & Project Development: Review customer specifications and drawings, develop system concepts, select and size components, create BOMs and technical documentation, and prepare competitive estimates and proposals for custom electrical and control projects

- Team Collaboration & Growth: Work closely with customers, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and vendors while applying your expertise in controls, automation, drives, motor control, electrical systems, and estimating within a collaborative, down-to-earth team

- Interview Process: Virtual screening, in-person interview(s), facility tour, and professional reference check(s)

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**

As an Electrical Estimator, you will:

- Review RFQs, customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements

- Develop preliminary electrical and/or control system concepts and project scope

- Select and size major electrical, drive, motor control, and/or automation components

- Develop single-line diagrams, BOMs, and supporting technical documentation as applicable

- Obtain and evaluate vendor pricing, equipment information, and lead times

- Estimate material, engineering, programming, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and other project costs

- Prepare competitive pricing and professional technical proposals

- Define project scope, assumptions, exclusions, and technical risks

- Coordinate with customers, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and vendors

- Support the handoff of awarded projects to Engineering and project teams

- Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing, and proposal documentation

**Experience and Qualifications**

What We’re Looking For:

- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, Controls, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience

- Professional experience in electrical or controls estimating, applications engineering, industrial automation, drives, motor control, electrical systems, or related technical sales

- Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, drives and motor control, and/or industrial controls and automation

- Ability to interpret customer specifications, electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, or control documentation

- Experience developing BOMs, estimates, quotations, or technical proposals

- Ability to select and size electrical or automation components based on customer and application requirements

- Strong analytical skills and attention to technical detail, project scope, cost, and profitability

- Clear communication with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams

- Ability to manage multiple estimates, projects, and deadlines

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard business software

Preferred Experience:

- Prior experience estimating, quoting, or developing proposals for industrial electrical, drives, motor control, controls, or automation projects

- Drives, motors, MCCs, power distribution, or industrial electrical equipment

- PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, instrumentation, industrial networking, or control panels

- Controls or applications engineering, systems integration, electrical estimating, or technical electrical sales

- Developing system concepts, single-line diagrams, BOMs, or technical scopes

- Estimating engineering, programming, manufacturing, testing, or commissioning requirements

- Project pricing, cost analysis, margins, and profitability

- Custom-engineered or project-based manufacturing and automation environments
