**About Emhance**
Emhance builds emotion AI for mobile game studios. The platform analyzes hundreds of facial signals
captured through a player's device camera during gameplay to surface moments of frustration,
concentration, and delight, then maps those emotional responses to specific in-game events —
revealing why players actually quit in ways that traditional playtesting and surveys can't. Emhance's
customers, including game designers, user researchers, marketers, and studio executives, have used
these insights to meaningfully improve player retention, ad revenue, and conversion. Emhance works
with player-obsessed studios who want to understand their players scientifically, not just anecdotally.

**The Role**
Emhance is hiring a Controller to own the company's accounting function end to end. This is a hands-on,
high-ownership role: you'll run the day-to-day financial operations of the company — bookkeeping,
monthly close, payroll coordination, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management — while
standing up the systems, tools, and processes the business will run on as it scales. You'll own the books,
the cash position, and the monthly reporting package, and you'll be the person leadership, the board,
and our investors turn to for the numbers. Depending on how the function develops, you may also own
the budget and rolling forecast.

You'll work in a private-equity-style operating environment with structured reporting cadences and real
visibility into the financial health of the business.

This role suits someone who wants deep ownership over a company's accounting function without layers
of existing process to navigate — because you're the one building it.

**What You'll Do**
• Own day-to-day bookkeeping and the monthly close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-
ready financial records
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, customer invoicing, and
collections
• Coordinate payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable employment tax and
reporting requirements
• Own cash flow and burn tracking, giving leadership a clear, current view of cash position and
runway at all times
• Own the monthly and quarterly financial reporting package for company leadership, the board, and
investors
• Own the annual budget and rolling forecast process, and deliver monthly variance analysis against
plan with clear commentary on the key drivers
• Stand up accounting and finance systems appropriate for an early-stage company (accounting
software, expense management, payroll, billing)
• Own revenue recognition and billing operations as the commercial model evolves
• Ensure compliance with relevant tax filings, business registrations, and financial recordkeeping
requirements
• Coordinate with external accountants, tax preparers, and other outside financial support as needed
• Partner with multiple stakeholders — company leadership, the board, and outside investors — in a
private-equity-style operating environment with structured reporting cadences
• Support fundraising and diligence processes with audit-ready records, historical financials, and data
room preparation
• Support ad hoc financial analysis to inform key business decisions

**What We're Looking For**
• 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or financial operations, ideally including time at an
early-stage startup or in public accounting
• Demonstrated ownership of a monthly close — you have run one, not just contributed to one
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, cash flow management, and financial reporting
fundamentals
• Comfort operating without an established finance team or extensive existing infrastructure — you’ll
build much of it yourself
• Hands-on experience implementing or administering accounting and finance tools (e.g., Campfire,
payroll platforms such as Gusto or Deel, expense management, spreadsheet-based modeling)
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting in a PE-backed, investor-governed, or multi-
entity environment is a strong plus
• Familiarity with SaaS or usage-based revenue recognition is a plus
• High attention to detail and strong organizational instincts
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and leadership
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA-track is a plus but not
required

• Clean, accurate, up-to-date books, with a close that lands on a predictable calendar every month
• Clear, real-time visibility into cash position and runway, without leadership having to ask
• Accounting systems and processes built to scale as the company and team grow
• A reporting package leadership, the board, and investors trust without reconciliation
• Leadership consistently has the financial information it needs to make timely, informed decisions
