**Multiply Labs** · San Francisco

Salary: $195,000–$260,000 per year

## About Multiply Labs

The traditional manufacturing process for individualized drugs is extremely slow and expensive, because it is based on manual labor. At Multiply Labs, we believe that robotics is the only way to truly scale the production of individualized drugs - finally providing these life-saving therapies to the millions of patients who need them. We develop cloud-controlled modular robotic systems that manufacture individualized drugs, and we deploy these systems in the facilities of our pharma customers. This is pharma robotics as a service: we sell the robotic production capacity that our customers need to scale their next-gen individualized drugs.

## About the role

**About Multiply Labs**Multiply Labs is a cutting-edge startup based in San Francisco, California, supported by top-tier tech and life science investors such as Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator. Our mission is to build the best robots in the world, and use them to make the most advanced life-saving therapies accessible to all.
We are revolutionizing the manufacturing of cell therapies by developing advanced robotic systems designed to automate and scale the production of these life-saving treatments. Our robots empower biopharma companies to produce cell therapies at scale without significantly changing their existing processes, reducing regulatory barriers and risks. While traditional approaches are time-consuming and lead to extremely high costs for patients (typically $1M+ per patient), using robotics can make these transformative treatments more accessible and affordable to patients in need.

##### Duties

- Robot Software Development: Design and implement production-ready software forrobotic platforms, ranging from high-level robotic logic to low-level hardware communication.

- Modular Architecture: Develop and maintain modular codebases designed to handle anarbitrary number of operations for automated manufacturing.

- Motion Planning & Control: Implement and optimize sophisticated algorithms for trajectory generation, motion smoothing, and collision avoidance in constrained environments.

- Hardware Interfacing: Develop reliable software interfaces for robotic manipulators to interact with and operate various instruments and custom components.

- Kinematics & Solvers: Design and implement high-performance numerical gradient-based kinematic solvers and real-time trajectory parameterization algorithms.

- Simulation & Validation: Design and improve high-fidelity simulation environments withdynamically rendered tools and realistic collision modeling for system validation.

- Fault Handling: Design state-based task management systems with robust error recovery and safety-firstfeatures for industrial automation.

- Technical Leadership: Serve as a point-of-contact for technical roadmaps and provide expert knowledge on deterministic robotic navigation.

##### Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering, robotics, or a related engineering field.

- 7 years of progressive experience as an engineer or related in robotics software engineering.

- 3 years (may be concurrent with 7 years) in the following:

- Design or implementation of multi-threaded or multi-process control systems;

- UR (robotic manipulators or arms);

- Trajectory computation, generation, or parameterization; Robotic collision checking ordetection;

- Production level code with emphasis on code quality, reliability, and performance.
**Closing**We take pride in cultivating an environment that fosters collaboration, open communication, and authenticity. We are an equal opportunity employer; we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
