**London (Hybrid)**

##### About Us

This is a senior technical leadership role at the heart of our engineering organisation, owning the architecture, standards, and delivery of everything simulation-related, from real-time XR training experiences to physics and engineering modeling.

##### The Role

Reports to the CPTO and is directly responsible for all Simulation technologies, managing a team of 4+ engineers.

- Owning technical direction for Simulation. Take full responsibility for technical direction, project implementation, and team leadership across the Simulation team.

- Architecture for scalable, real-time simulation systems. Design the architecture for scalable, real-time simulation systems. Lead development of reusable components shared across XR/VR training and physics-based engineering models, and own technology-stack decisions for the simulation layer.

- Lead estimation and delivery of client work. Design solutions for client projects and oversee their implementation, advising product and design on what is technically feasible. Weigh near-term delivery needs against long-term technology strategy when making technology choices.

- Raise the bar for engineering standards. Set technical direction and standards for simulation code, with particular attention to performance, accuracy, and maintainability. Raise engineering practice across all of Engineering, accelerating adoption of modern engineering practices, and leading through example among peers.

- Lead and mentor the team. Manage and mentor a team of 4+ simulation engineers, owning performance management plans for all direct reports. Oversee work from team augmentation and outsourcing partners.

- Own developer productivity. Set the roadmap for the shared code, common ways of working, and for the metrics that measure productivity. Accelerate the adoption and efficacy of agentic coding techniques and agentic delivery. Deliver measurable improvements within three months.

##### Who we think will be successful in this role

- Proven experience building real-time simulation or XR systems in Unity, including creating and delivering major architecture strategies.

- Strong hands-on Unity experience is essential. Experience with other engines (e.g. Unreal) and scalable application architectures is an advantage.

- A track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and managing team performance.

- Current knowledge of agentic coding (Codex, Claude Code) and other AI-assisted tools and methods for software engineering, simulation creation and asset generation.

- Experience with Meta Quest (Horizon OS) and comparable XR platforms across VR, Mixed Reality and Web.**Nice to have**

- Experience with data-powered digital twinning technologies and techniques.

- Domain experience in training/simulation for industry (rather than strictly gaming) applications.

- Performance profiling experience on constrained hardware (mobile/standalone XR).

- Prior experience leading teams in high-performance environments.**What We Offer**
