**The Role**

ProFound Therapeutics is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Co-Op with experience in computational biology and/or human genetics to play a vital role in the company’s Computational Biology team. Under the supervision of members of the Computational Biology team, this individual will receive structured training and hands-on experience in the analysis and interpretation of large-scale human genetics and multi-omics data to support therapeutic target discovery and translational research. This individual will contribute scientific and technical expertise to a multidisciplinary team, emphasizing conceptualization, analysis, data interpretation, presentation, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate for this position will have coursework or early research experience in computational biology, statistical genetics, or a related quantitative discipline and be enthusiastic and capable of working in a multidisciplinary (e.g. genomics, bioinformatics, protein biochemistry) team in the biosciences. The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced entrepreneurial setting. The Co-Op is designed to complement the candidate’s academic training and provide exposure to industry-based research and therapeutic development.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Serve as a contributor to the Computational Biology team, whose mission is to discover new therapeutics and validate new therapeutic targets

- Analyze and interpret large-scale human genetics and multi-omics datasets to support therapeutic target discovery and translational research

- Support and perform statistical genetics and genetic epidemiology analyses, including rare variant association analyses using exome and sequencing datasets

- Contribute to and conduct expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) and protein quantitative trait locus (pQTL) analyses, and Transcriptome-Wide and Proteome-Wide Association Studies (TWAS/PWAS)

- Assist with single-cell RNA sequencing and other single-cell multi-omics analyses

- Support and conduct proteogenomic analyses integrating genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and clinical data

- Support functional interpretation of genetic associations and biological pathways

- Develop and implement reproducible bioinformatics pipelines and analytical workflows using modern computational tools and programming languages

- Interpret, visualize, and communicate scientific findings through presentations, reports, and cross-functional discussions

- Report analysis plans and results to the scientific team

- Proactively review literature to contribute to new ideas and methods/technologies for discovery and therapeutic areas

**Minimum Qualifications:**

- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistical genetics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field

- Coursework or hands-on research experience working with biological or other large datasets, and attention to detail

- Working familiarity with at least one programming or statistical language (e.g. R, Python)

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner

- Strong collaborative skills with evidence of working in a team

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Prior industry or academic research co-op experience in computational biology, human genetics, or bioinformatics

- Coursework or research exposure to genetics, genomics, or the statistical analysis of biological data

- Experience working with genomic or transcriptomic datasets (e.g. RNA sequencing, single-cell, or genotype data)

- Familiarity with command-line/Unix environments or version control (e.g. Git)

- Exposure to high-performance computing or cloud computing environments

- Confident execution, focused and team-oriented with an ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment

- Interest in the application of human genetics and computational biology to drug discovery and translational medicine

**What We Offer**

- Build alongside founders. You’ll work inside the same hypothesis-driven process Flagship uses to conceive and launch first-in-category companies.

- This can be the start of a longer story. Strong co-ops are considered for future opportunities across Flagship and its portfolio companies, not just for this one role.

- Work alongside people who left the safe path. Your colleagues are scientists, engineers, and operators who chose to build something new rather than join something already established.

- Take on real ownership. You're contributing to ventures that are still being defined. Your work can shape real decisions, not just support them.

- Be paid like the contributor you are. Compensation reflects the real work you take on.
