# Software Engineer

**Eventual** — New York, NY (HQ)

## About Eventual

Every breakthrough AI application, from foundation models to autonomous vehicles, relies on processing massive volumes of images, video, and complex data. But today’s data platforms (like Databricks and Snowflake) are built on top of tools made for spreadsheet-like analytics, not the petabytes of multimodal data that power AI. As a result, teams waste months on brittle infrastructure instead of conducting research and building their core product.

Eventual was founded in 2022 to solve this. Our mission is to make querying any kind of data, images, video, audio, text, as intuitive as working with tables, and powerful enough to scale to production workloads. Our open-source engine, Daft, is purpose-built for real-world AI systems: coordinating with external APIs, managing GPU clusters, and handling failures that traditional engines can’t. Daft already powers critical workloads at companies like Amazon, Mobileye, Together AI, and CloudKitchens.

We’ve assembled a world-class team from Databricks, AWS, Nvidia, Pinecone, GitHub Copilot, Tesla, and more, quadrupling our size within a year. With backing from Y Combinator, Caffeinated Capital, Array.vc, and top angels from the co-founders of Databricks and Perplexity, we’re looking to double the team now. Join us—Eventual is just getting started.

Please note we are looking for someone who is willing and able to come into our San Francisco office in the Mission district 4 days / week.

## About the role

**About Eventual** Eventual is a well-funded, seed-stage fintech startup on a mission to improve American housing unaffordability. We're starting with a narrow but high-impact niche: insurance. With insurance prices up dramatically over the last five years, home insurance represents a new corner of housing ripe for innovation.

Eventual tackles insurance unaffordability by building the world's most accurate AI insurance prediction models, trained on tens of millions of US homes insurance policy renewals. This prediction model enables us to offer a 3-year price guarantee for home insurance; we simply reimburse homeowners if their insurance gets too expensive in the future. Homeowners are finding immense value from this multi-year predictability, with customers in 37 US states and thousands of distributors (insurance agents) today.

We’re a small, high-energy team of 12 professionals building in-person in NYC and LA with expertise from Blackstone, Citadel, Waymo, Google, and early-stage fintech startups. We’ve raised $7.5m and our revenue is growing exponentially.

**The Role** We're looking for a software engineer who's excited to build and ship across the full stack. You'll work closely with design, data science, and product to deliver features end-to-end, from backend APIs and data pipelines to frontend interfaces our customers use every day. It's a high-ownership role with real impact on a live product.

**What You'll Do**

- Build and maintain backend services and APIs in FastAPI and PostgreSQL

- Develop frontend components and flows in Next.js and Tailwind

- Translate Figma designs into responsive, accessible interfaces

- Integrate with external services including Stripe, Auth0, and Canopy Connect

- Own features end-to-end: design, build, test, deploy, support

- Help shape engineering practices and architecture as the team scales**What We're Looking For**

- 3+ years of experience building and shipping production software

- Comfortable working across the stack, or strong in one area with willingness to stretch

- Solid fundamentals in Python and/or TypeScript or equivalent

- Experience with relational databases and clean API design

- Works well with autonomy and takes ownership over end-to-end delivery

- Bonus: experience at an early-stage company or on a 0→1 product**Why Join Us**

- Meaningful equity and a chance to shape our trajectory early

- A product already in use by real customers, with real stakes

- A small, close-knit team that values speed, craft, and clear thinking

- Space to grow into leadership or specialize as we scale
