## About the role

**Pay Range: $68,000-$83,300**

**Remote Eligible: Hybrid**

**General Purpose of the Position**

Responsible for a variety of functions within the Accounting Department including month-end financial report preparation, monthly reconciliations and the compilation and analysis of data to be used in the accounting, regulatory reporting, and accounts payable. Applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and supports the credit union’s operating objectives by creating and maintaining accurate and relevant financial data and reports.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

- Reconciles and analyzes various general ledger accounts including bank reconciliations. Responsible for working with other departments to clear outstanding items.

- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to GL accounts, documenting business transactions.

- Determines proper handling of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP, NCUA regulations and credit union policy and posts entries.

- Prepares payroll journal entries and payroll-related balance sheet account reconciliations timely. Prepares payroll-related analysis and collaborates with People team to resolve discrepancies.

- Participates in activities related to the month-end closing process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation and variance explanations.

- Assist accounts payable in reviewing invoices, expense reimbursements and issuance of payments.

- Assists in the credit union’s fixed assets process including compiling invoices, recording newly acquired assets and disposing of assets

- Maintains the financial records of, and produces financial statements for, the Credit Union of Colorado Foundation.

- Participates in budget review meetings with various organizational leaders. Research and follow-up on questions raised by leaders.

- Assists with ad hoc financial analysis reports.

- Assists with departmental and organizational projects as directed by the Controller.

- Prepares and updates accounting procedures for the duties of this position.

- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.

- Compiles data for external auditors and examiners.

- Performs accounting duties in accordance with established credit union policies and procedures.

- Assists Accounting Department personnel as needed.

- Provides excellent service by demonstrating courtesy and personal concern for members’ and coworkers’ needs and ‑follows up‑ to ensure those needs are met.

- Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations applicable to the credit union, including the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC.

- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

**Requirements**

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**

Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of two years prior experience in accounting or auditing. Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.

**OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

Technical knowledge of accounting and financial concepts, practices, procedures, and financial reports. Understanding of related regulations, statutes, and filing requirements. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial analysis skills, a quick learner. Ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines. Ability to apply verbal, written and interpersonal skills that develop member, employee and volunteer confidence, respect and trust in Credit Union of Colorado and develop cooperative relationships with all levels of employees throughout the organization. Working knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, and Access. Knowledge of the Symitar, ProfitStar, and Sage Fixed Assets systems and other related computer applications.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to sit for long periods. The employee continually is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to [10] pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
