#### About the Role

The Business Office Assistant plays an essential role in creating a positive patient experience and supporting the efficient day-to-day operations of the business office. Responsibilities include patient check-in and check-out, scheduling, insurance and demographic verification, payment collection, documentation, and general administrative support.

The ideal candidate is professional, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

#### What You'll Do

- Greet patients, physicians, visitors, and vendors in a professional and welcoming manner.

- Perform patient check-in and check-out accurately and efficiently.

- Verify and update patient demographic, contact, and insurance information.

- Assist with scheduling and coordinating patient appointments and procedures.

- Answer incoming calls, respond to routine questions, and direct calls appropriately.

- Communicate appointment information, arrival instructions, and other administrative information to patients.

- Assist with registration forms, consents, insurance documentation, and other required paperwork.

- Collect and document patient payments, copayments, deductibles, and other applicable fees.

- Support insurance verification, authorizations, billing, and other revenue-cycle activities.

- Perform administrative tasks including scanning, filing, faxing, data entry, and document preparation.

- Maintain accurate and organized electronic and paper records.

- Communicate effectively with clinical staff, physicians' offices, patients, and other departments to support efficient patient flow.

- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements.

- Follow ASC policies and procedures related to patient safety, infection prevention, security, and emergency preparedness.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front-desk and business office environment.

- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

#### What We're Looking For

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare, ambulatory surgery center, physician practice, hospital, or similar healthcare setting required.

- Previous front-desk, scheduling, registration, customer service, or administrative experience required.

- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes preferred.

- Basic understanding of insurance terminology and patient financial responsibilities preferred.

- Medical Assistant Background/ Certification preferred

- Strong computer skills and ability to learn EMR, scheduling, and business office systems.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive patient information.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
