**Chariot** — Chariot HQ

Apply: https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/chariot/3da60b22-0d02-4084-9e25-1bf90ec9621a

## About Chariot

Chariot is building the financial infrastructure for the $326 billion donor-advised fund (DAF) market, the fastest-growing segment of philanthropy. Our gift processing platform is an end-to-end solution for managing DAF payments, making it easier for grantmakers to send grant payments and nonprofits to receive, reconcile, and enrich their donation data.

Chariot also powers DAFpay, the industry’s first integrated DAF payment option and a TIME’s Best Invention of 2025. It is embedded on over 100,000 nonprofits’ donation forms—including American Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and University of Pennsylvania—and is a primary payment option on leading fundraising platforms like GoFundMe and GiveButter.

Hundreds of millions are already moving through Chariot’s platform, and we’re just getting started.

## About the role

#### Job Description

Chariot’s engineering hire will be responsible for taking the Chariot platform to the next level. You will lead the evolution of our banking product, DAF product and technology strategy, along with building a growing team of software engineers. You will work closely with the CEO and team of founding engineers to build out a product that can scale to service all the existing and upcoming contracts in our pipeline. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a strong sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and is a good mentor and co-worker. At Chariot, you’ll have the unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact for nonprofits around the world while working as part of a small, fast-moving team.

- Manage and build out the backend server applications and components that comprise the Chariot platform that power our various product offerings.

- Contribute to the architecture and design of our APIs, backend systems, and applications and help define team standards and best practices.

- Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies.

- Improve real-time and analytical monitoring and alerting capabilities for us to better understand our user behaviors and iterate on our product.

- Communicate effectively with founders, product managers, and other software developers.

- Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum environment.

#### 👤 About You

- 4+ years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.

- 2+ years of relevant work experience as a backend application developer building performant and scalable backend systems.

- Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience.

- Be highly proficient working with Go, Node, Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes.

- Experience with Postgres (RDBMS), REST APIs, and gRPC.

- Strong sense of responsibility; ability to drive a project from inception to completion.

- Experience with fintech, payments, and the nonprofit-sector is a plus.

- Experience building secure and scalable applications on AWS is a plus.

#### 📚 What you’ll get from Chariot

At Chariot, we are building modern, end-to-end payment infrastructure making donors' lives easier, and nonprofits' lives better. $600B gets donated to charity each year in the US and the existing technology/infrastructure was still built for our grandparents generation. Chariot is here to change that.

- Traction. Annualizing over $1.8B in payment volume through Chariot. Tens of thousands of nonprofits already onboarded including American Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and University of Pennsylvania.

- Impact: That money services nonprofits working in homelessness, health, education, the environment, and so much more.

- Market opportunity: Billion dollar revenue opportunity. Fintech company operating in an untapped $600B market

- The Team. >30% of Charioteers are former founders. NYC office, in-person Monday through Thursday, WFH Friday. The [public handbook](https://chariot-1.gitbook.io/public-employee-handbook) shows how we operate.

#### ❤️ Employee Benefits

- 🏥 Healthcare: Comprehensive healthcare, including options that are 100% covered by Chariot for you

- 🌴 Time-Off: 18 days PTO and 13 holidays - take the time off that you want and need to relax and recharge

- 👶 Parental Leave: 100% paid parental leave, including 12 weeks for primary caregivers

- 🍽️ Team Lunches: Weekly team lunches

- 🌯 Dinner on Chariot: Free dinner every day at office past 8pm
